Handheld from the bottom of a rushing creek. I went in thinking the shot would be perfect from up above on the bridge behind me but after some exploring...
It's the unintended shot that makes my day.
If I begged and if I cried
Would it change the sky tonight?
Would it give me some light?
Should I wait for you to call?
Is there any hope at all?
Are you drifting by...
When I think about it
I know that I was never there or even cared
The more I think about it
The less that I was able to share with you
I try to reach for you, I can almost feel you
You're nearly here
And then you disappear . .. . . >>> Hugo Chakrabongse
Pretty much overcast all day and when our for my walk Arran was beginning to disappear!!

Sgùrr Fiona disappears in the mist, shortly after we reached the summit of Bidean a' Ghlas Thuill. Within a couple of minutes it had disappeared altogether and we returned to Dundonnell by a slight variation on our ascent route.
An old shot taken with my first DSLR.

I was walking back from my coffee break this morning when this leaf caught my eye.
Not entirely sure why, but it seems to perfectly suit my day.
Anyway, hope everyone has had a good day.

Although it might have been done for maybe a 1.000.000 times, I just can't get enough from these kind of forrest lanes, autumn colors and some heavy fog.

So after an absence of a year or so, I now have a new Fox resident in my garden.:)
As you can see she's taken to sleeping in my raised beds, where I've just planted fledgling lettuce and Chard, who needs veg anyway lol.:)
She's also nursing, so her cubs are probably living behind my shed, as that's where she disappears to after grabbing a mouthful of food.:)
Have a Fabulous Hump Day Wednesday Y'all..:)
A walk along an old deserted and overgrown railway line - so many around here! Reveals remnants fast disappearing and nature reclaiming.
It's been a banner year in 2021... and, I must say. that my numbers have grown a lot more than I expected. The reason is that I've uncovered loads of people that used to interact with me but now have seemed to disappear from Flickr. I believe that the newer folks have been more active, hence the increase in numbers.
My numbers: I've been a member since 2008. In 2021, I've received 2,000,898 views, 179,122 favs and I gave 75,767 favs in return. Last year I also received 10,769 comments and wrote 6,181! I've also picked up 610 new followers.
Thanks to each and everyone of you for your support, encouragement, and friendship.
This is N01 Canada Square the tallest building in the docklands area of London, I love how it is disappearing into the fog .
I love my R5. This one is at ISO 12,800. I did see some large bands that I had to desaturate to make them disappear.
Five minutes later the mist did come in and this peaceful spot at the mouth of the Spey had disappeared from view

i wish life could be this easy. when you've handled all you can handle, you just start to disappear. the air becomes empty where you stood.
i don't know where to go from here, or what could be done. all i know to do is cry and pray for God to show me a little guidance, but the hope doesn't last long. i just keep telling myself that this is God's way of testing me. this is His way of seeing how strong i am. im letting Him down. im letting everyone down.
i think about everything a person could do in this world: careers, having families, falling in love, going to school, breathing.
i can't place myself anywhere in those categories. i have no talent for anything, im not smart enough to get into freaking college.. what is there for me then? why am i living a life that won't be lived fully? i don't know how to live life to the fullest, because im not full of anything. it seems so unfair to me that people with a passion for life and breathing and loving die everyday, and i stay here and waste what i have because i don't know what to do with it. i don't dance or sing, i can't find the energy to laugh or tell stories anymore. im disappearing. my heart is shriveling up inside of my chest and im not sure what will be left of me when im just a ghost.
i want to live. i want to be good at something, anything. i want to find something good, something to make me feel worthwhile again.
because im sick of being bones and skin and no heart.
i need to find my heart.
i need to find my purpose.
It was not only my fifth and final morning, but it was in my final available hour of photographing the beauty of Custer State Park when this lovely lady caught my eye. I had already logged some 3.5 mile of wandering the rolling hills and rock formations in search of a Prairie rattler (another swing and a miss) when I realized that it was time to head back to my car.
As I stood at the back of my car packing away my camera gear, movement caught the corner of my left eye. As I attempted to zero in on the distraction, my mind instantly noticed that of the 50 or so Prairie dog mounds in front of me, not a single dog was up, or alerting on my return…something was very different.
Just as I started to conclude my scan of the area, it happened again. Some 25 yards out, a large amount to dirt was thrown in the air. Something much bigger than a Prairie dog was digging behind the mound, just out of view. Matching the speed of Forest Gump reassembling his weapon in boot camp, I unpacked my largest lens, switched camera bodies and attached my monopod in record time!
It took a while to close the gap a bit because I had to stop every few steps and look through the lens for activity, check settings and be ready to capture a few safety shots. I wrongly assumed that whatever it was, it would disappear into its den the second I was noticed. When she arched her back up, perfectly displaying the unmistakable markings of a Badger, I gasped, gulped and nearly provided a fecal sample instantly!
I took several shots of her back with dirt flying through the air, just in case this would be my only opportunity granted with this bucket listed gift from God. I guess her internal safety alarm went off…or she noticed my need of a shower, but she threw her head in the air, noticeably utilizing her sight, olfaction and hearing…now staring right down my lens.
It was at this point I captured this shot, a personal treasure. Knowing that the 20 or so yards between us was well within both of our comfort zones, I knew she pretty much had three options…dive down into the newly dug den, run away, or my least favorite…jump on my head and eat my face. Once again, I was blessed to be wrong as she chose a fourth option. She trotted away from me another 20 yards or so and started digging again. It was then that I realized she was hunting Prairie dogs, hunger had this normally nocturnal lady out late, away from her den and probable cubs.
The newly acquired distance between us provided much more comfort as she proceeded to hunt, her checks on my whereabouts becoming less and less frequent. It was when she decided to flip over on her back to enjoy a roll in the freshly dug dirt that I knew she was totally relaxed, and I was able to properly sex her. For the record…no photos of her “womanhood” was taken as I did not desire to have them in my camera nor computer…just in case something would tragically happen to me, like her jealous hubby jumping on my head and eating my face! I would hate for my memory to be tainted when “badger parts” photos were discovered in my files!
Several cars passed by, no doubt looking for wildlife…surely noticing me on my knees out in the middle of a prairie dog town. All missing the opportunity of this rare encounter and absolute blessing. I backed away slowly as I did not want to disrupt this mom’s guilty little pleasure, knowing that the hunt probably wouldn’t end until success was achieved.
On a walk in the low lying cloud in the Pentland Hills. This bridge seemed to disappear but it's only as far as you can see.

Another misty morning shot. This time the mist was almost disappeared. The light was sooo pretty right at this moment!

Spurious vein indicates Syrphid and sinuous R4+5 indicates Palpada. The fall composites and golden rods are in full bloom this time of year, and these are some of the most common syrphids actively pollinating them. Lots of Monarchs and Gulf Fritillary butterflies as well. I enjoy Spring, but I think the Fall is the best time of the year in North Florida for flowers and insects.
