I travel the void, not thinking about direction

all seems the same to me-

Cold, calm, deserted

all seems apart of me-

I travel the void, walking further away from the light

all seems to frighten me-

Pretenders, Hypocrites, Fakes

all seem to know me-

I stop to catch my breathe

air seems to not enter me-

I travel the void-deeper, darker

Distance isn't an option to me-

'Enter the darkness' reads the sign,

Doesn't seem to phase me-

Cold sweat drips, knees shake, breathe draws weak

Death is after me-

Yet I continue to walk the void

I do this for me-

System shutting down, lungs collapse, skin turns blue

I did this for me-

This palace houses the current museum of the city. Built from 1776 to 1791, under the leadership of Captain General Felipe Fondesviela, Marquis de la Torre, the palace is inaugurated by the illustrious Don Luis de las Casas. From this date, and for over a hundred years, the palace became the official residence of the captains-general appointed by the King of Spain, representing the first civilian and military authority of the island. In total, 65 governors succeed one another. In 1834, Miguel de Tacón brought to the building of great transformations, still visible today. The last prisoners of common law are dislodged, and the cells, redeveloped in workshops, are rented to craftsmen. At the end of Spanish rule, the palace successively hosts the governments of the first and second American interventions (1899-1902 and 1906-1909). It serves as a presidential palace between 1902 and 1920. Subsequently, the Havana City Council holds its council meetings until 1967, when it begins its restoration. The City Museum opens its doors the following year. This building is undoubtedly the most important of the Spanish colonial heritage. With the neighboring palace, that of Segundo Cabo, and the cathedral, it forms a trilogy of Cuban Baroque. The facade overlooking the square has nine arches resting on ten columns, crowned with the Spanish crest. Moldings, cornices, and other decorative elements were taken over by many architects of the time for other Havanese palaces. You will not fail to notice that the cobblestones of Tacón Street, just in front of the facade of the palace, are made of wood ... It is said that the rattling of the carts on the stone disturbed the sleep of a captain general and his wife and an aide-de-camp, eager to win the favor of her master, then had the stone pavers replaced with wooden pavers.
