In this TED X talk Wyatt lashes out at our current inadequate educational system. Wyatt is of the same opinion that I have which is that Education should first and foremost teach students how to learn. In the 21st Century it is estimated that people will have between 3 and 6 careers over their working life and will therefore be constantly learning.
The fact that your children are taught WHAT to learn as compared to HOW to learn shows up the short sightedness of our current education system.

Two days of Open House at Anna’s for members of the Grange Singers, Dovercourt Choral Society and the Harwich Society. The invitation was to sew together knitted squares to form blankets to be taken to Kosovo by the Hope & Aid Direct charity (www.hopeandaiddirect.org.uk/) who work closely with the Mother Teresa Society in the Balkans.The temperature has dropped to -22 degrees in the region, and donations of wool for knitting or crocheting into squares for more blankets will be appreciated.
The Mayoress, Eleanor Brown, was joined by sewing friends, including the former Mayor and Mayoress, Steph & Eileen Tyrer, whose association with aid to the Balkans goes back to 1999 at the start of the Kosovo conflict. Multi-coloured blankets have been produced over these two Open House Days with the aid of coffee & cake and home-made bread & cheese snacks to keep them going.

El periodista y directivo de la Corporación Mapuche Enama, Pedro Cayuqueo Millaqueo, presentó ayer sábado a sala llena su cuarto libro en la Feria Internacional del Libro de Santiago, titulado "Huenchumilla, la historia del hombre de oro".
El periodista y escritor estuvo acompañado por Arturo Infante, editor de Catalonia; Patricio Fernández, director del semanario The Clinic; y el propio ex intendente de la AraucanÃa, Francisco Huenchumilla, quien viajó desde Temuco para ser parte del lanzamiento de la obra.
Como una investigación periodÃstica tendiente a conocer la vida y trayectoria de un destacado hombre público mapuche, calificó Cayuqueo su cuarta publicación, que se suma a "Solo por ser Indios", "La voz de los lonkos" y "Esa ruca llamada Chile", todos con editorial Catalonia.
"No se trata de una biografÃa oficial o de las memorias del peñi Francisco; es una investigación periodÃstica de largos meses, con más de 40 entrevistados y que implicó en lo profesional un gran desafÃo", señaló el autor. "Contar la historia de Huenchumilla es contar un pedazo de la historia mapuche, de la región y del conflicto en la zona sur", agregó.
El ex intendente, por su parte, señaló tener sentimientos encontrados con el libro. "Pasa que las biografÃas o los libros sobre polÃticos siempre se escriben cuando estos ya están retirados de la vida pública. Entonces me pasa eso, que no se si el peñi Pedro me estará jubilando con este libro", bromeó Huenchumilla.
El ex ministro y alcalde de Temuco agradeció al autor por la obra, un trabajo que señaló destaca por ser no la historia suya en exclusiva. "Pedro tuvo el talento y la visión para contar una historia que no es solo la de Huenchumilla. Su libro trata sobre el ser mapuche en una sociedad racista, sobre el despojo y aquello que nos aconteció como pueblo y sobre aquella herida abierta que perdura", subrayó.
"Para mi es un honor que un destacado intelectual mapuche se haya interesado en mi trayectoria. Yo lo he dicho, mi encuentro con la identidad mapuche ha sido un proceso en mi vida, tardÃo, pero que obedece a como decÃa Ortega y Gasset, a uno y sus circunstancias. Pedro da cuenta de ese proceso y le agradezco por su trabajo", agregó Huenchumilla.
