Just bought this dining table for my sister's new house. Hopefully I can get a real photo of it soon.

Customer's home--this couple combined our vintage industrial-style dining table, with its raw wood top, with their classic "Tolix" chairs and a beautiful nickel pendant lamp in a glossier industrial look. The mix is great.

Thought I'd post a few images of home in and amongst my drawings. We have a steel red-bulbed lamp hanging low above our dining table and when the lights are low and the garden's full of snow beyond.... it's quite magical

This scene is from the zeitreise DDR museum in Radebeul (near Dresden) where you can learn all about the life during DDR time and the importent moments in history of the DDR. A real must go!

We have made this table, or similar iterations, a number of times. But success keeps drawing us back, even when the road is hard! This is a very open-grained, natural top of reclaimed elm-wood from China, set atop two local sewing machine bases, and held in place by a metal "prong" setting inspired by the one on a diamond ring.

Fallingwater's living room's northwest corner contains a dining alcove with a built-in dining table and credenza. The wooden dining room table, designed by Frank Lloyd Wright in 1939, uses the lighter lines of sapwood as a design element, bookmatching the flitches to create highlights. Additional tables folded into the adjacent buffet can more than double the 78½" length. The set of chairs at the dining table, late 19th century wooden Italian pesant chairs, were purchased by Mrs. Kaufman at a second hand shop in Florence. Wright had wanted to use his more formal Barrel Chair, but the family felt these rustic three-legged hand-carved chairs would evoke more of a casual charm appropriate for a mountain retreat.

Fallingwater, sometimes referred to as the Edgar J. Kaufmann Sr. Residence or just the Kaufmann Residence, located within a 5,100-acre nature reserve 50 miles southeast of Pittsburgh, was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and built between 1936 and 1939. Built over a 30-foot flowing waterfall on Bear Run in the Mill Run section of Stewart Township, Fayette County, Pennsylvania, the house served as a vacation retreat for the Kaufmann family including patriarch, Edgar Kaufmann Sr., was a successful Pittsburgh businessman and president of Kaufmann's Department Store, and his son, Edgar Kaufmann, Jr., who studied architecture briefly under Wright. Wright collaborated with staff engineers Mendel Glickman and William Wesley Peters on the structural design, and assigned his apprentice, Robert Mosher, as his permanent on-site representative throughout construction. Despite frequent conflicts between Wright, Kaufmann, and the construction contractor, the home and guesthouse were finally constructed at a cost of $155,000.

Fallingwater was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1966. It was listed among the Smithsonian's 28 Places to See Before You Die. In a 1991 poll of members of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), it was voted "the best all-time work of American architecture." In 2007, Fallingwater was ranked #29 on the AIA 150 America's Favorite Architecture list.

Otherwise known as the dining room table and design studio, this multifaceted area also works as a home recording studio.

Mom: Yes, see, I normally wouldn't have sat on the side. But I was near my little Michael.

Me: This is a very important photo, and I bet you don't know why.

Mom: I...bet...you're right.

Me: This is the very last slide.

Mom: Oh! Of all the slides?

Me: Yes. So that means I've scanned close to a thousand slides.

Mom: Oh my goodness. That's amazing. That's a lot of slides.

Me: So why did you stop making slides out of your pictures?

Mom: Well, probably some new other camera came into being. Or maybe Daddy stopped taking pictures. I could never work his camera.

Me: I remember Tommy—I think it was Tommy—taking out the slides for a look maybe some time in the late seventies. But otherwise, I think we just ignored their existence. I don't even remember having a slide projector.

Mom: We used to. But you had to load the slides one by one. And then you had to take them out and put them back in their place. Someone, like Uncle Mickey, who took thousands of pictures, would save the good ones and put them in a carousel.

GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTEN - This is a great vintage teak dining table with slightly splayed pencil-shaped legs. We sanded all the wood down to the grain and oiled it, so that its natural beauty shines through. The new top of clean white laminate makes it fresh and inviting. Do a high-low by pairing this with a few chrome Bertoia chairs ;-D
