Great Colonial architecture of Sancti Spiritus, Cuba. A beautiful city for taking a walk around without guidebook or plans, just discovering the streets and hoping not to get lost. Story to the Pictures on my page: www.life-abroad.ch (in german)
Today's story and sketch "by me" again we have gone back in time to
the year 1935, and in this sketch you see another victim of Gypsy Lady
Zooelda, owner of the Dimension Two Moon Pie Shop on Route 66 in
Broken Drum Indiana. Today's victim is a young man named Clyde
Whipson who like many before him on there way to work, or in Clyde's
case off to school at the prestigious "IGHA" Indiana Goat Herder
Academy, drove away from the take out window with a Banana Moon Pie
and a large coffee forgetting to tip Zooelda, and like so many Moon
Pie lovers before him who forgot to tip Zooelda, drove onto route
66 and was sent into another dimension with his moon pie coffee and
a Voodoo Doll with his likeness you see in the tree which arrived
the same time as himself, in the spirit tree forest where he will
have time out to reflect on his life on Earth and the importance of
tipping, he can discuss with the Spirit Tree, Zooelda's X husband
who was banished here forever, after forgetting her 83rd birthday,
which is a story for anther time.
Bert the Spirit Tree is actually Zooelda's 7th husband in the
Spirit Tree Forest, the other six have stories to be told another
time.
Bert will be talking to Clyde for the next 24 hours about tipping
and his boring life as a spirit tree, Bert is happy for Clyde's
company until his twenty four hour curse is over, and is returned
to the take away window at Dimension Two, until then and other
fantastic tales of Supernatural Stuff, Aliens, Gypsy's and moon pies

Sol LeWitt (1928-2007) was an American artist linked to various movements. He is regarded as the founder of both Minimal and Conceptual art. His two and three-dimensional works range from wall drawings to hundreds of works extending to, what he termed, "structures" in the form of towers, pyramids, geometric forms, and progressions. These works range in size from gallery-sized installations to monumental outdoor pieces.
Using lines, squares, and cubes as his building blocks, LeWitt created rigorous works of art that are often both visually surprising and stunningly beautiful.
Seen and photographed on exhibit at San Francisco's Museum of Modern Art.
Obviously I have been inside for too long. What is interesting here is that I was playing around in PS, liked this image, saved it...and when i looked again, a ghost appeared and it looks like Alfred Hitchcock... Odd. No texture. Just blur. Weird. Perhaps I caught some kind of ghost or spirit when I took this shot...who knows!

This is a society that is intellectually blind; that follows wherever its instinctive emotion leads, applying its lesser conscious intelligence to blazing a reckless technological trail which cannot be justified, condoned, or even explained by free and independent intellect. Consequently, society has developed a confusing range of self-destructive human behaviour. Its attempted control of the situation, government and politics, is in a perpetual state of disagreement.
Note: The nibung palm tree is a spiky exotic jungle palm often used as piles for jetties and bridges as they are very hard and do not rot in the water. (Scientific name: oncosperma filamentosum or palmae arecaceae)
P/S: It looks as though the boys are jumping into another dimension in which the human race is more loving to the nature around it.

Inspired by a book that I read just before Christmas called 'Hyperspace: A Scientific Odyssey Through the 10th Dimension' by Michio Kaku and how a 'Flatlander' may visualise a three-dimensional cube by examining it's shadow and how we with our 'three-dimensional' brains may similarly appreciate and conceptualise higher dimensions.

New York Architecture Images- 72 Greene Street.
Originally a warehouse belonging to the dry goods dealer Gardner Colby Company, this impressive structure was known as the "King of Greene Street."Its ornate, three-dimensional facade is considered the finest example of the French Renaissance and Second Empire style in the entire district.
Although composed of two separate buildings, the structure is united by a projecting bay that forms a portico at the ground and rises to a pediment at the roof.At each floor, variegated freestanding columns support the protruding cornices of a central porch. Additional classically-inspired ornamental details are 4incorporated into the facade.A cartouche bearing the owner's initials is a tribute to Gardner's self-made financial success.
The building at 72 Greene Street, long known as the "King of Greene to Street",is looking more regal these days in its fresh coat of ivory paint.Architect Isaac F. Duckworth designed it in 1872.
Described as the most complex three-dimensional structure in SoHo,the building is five stories high and 10 bays wide.Rising from the sidewalk to the roof, the two center bays project forward slightly and are defined by free–standing sturdy columns enriched with fluted bases and composite capitals, In contrast, the side bays have austere flat pilasters. At the roof, the center bay has a protruding pediment supported by heavy brackets. The two doorways are unified by an imposing portico under a broken pediment with an urn.
"The King"was built for Gardner Colby to house his enormously successful dry goods business. He endowed the college that bears his name in his hometown of Waterville, Maine.
Like many other SoHo structures, this building endured hard times during the Great Depression of the 1930s.It suffered from a lack of maintenance and was marred by broken windows and rust. Two fire escapes were added to the facade because of city regulations.
For the last fourteen years, the M-13 Gallery, which sells contemporary paintings, has occupied the entire second floor. Alice's Antiques, specializing in ornate cast iron beds, has occupied the south portion of the ground floor for five years and Bennis Fabrics the north section.
Nome scientifico: Sympetrum striolatum (Charpentier 1840)
Dimensioni: 35-45 mm, apertura alare 50-60 mm.
Distribuzione e habitat: diffusa in tutta Italia e isole.

I managed to acquire a new more powerful laser with different defraction heads so it would be rude not to make good use of it! Camera rotation stuff all shot in one photographic exposure etc etc.

It is evening, the sun is setting and the snowpack is tinged here and there with slight shades ranging from white to azure.
A shrub is resistant to winter... observed in detail, isolated by the immensity of the alpine landscape, it seems wholly absorbed in a dreamlike dimension.
