From June 1-12, 2014, teams gathered for the EcoCAR 2 Year Three Competition at the General Motors Milford Proving Grounds in Milford, Michigan and at locations throughout Washington, DC to compete in more than a dozen technical, communications, and business events. Throughout the ten days, vehicles participate in engineering test similar to those conducted by the automotive industry to determine a prototype's readiness for production, and ultimately prove the viability of their advanced technology vehicles.

ELLSWORTH's INTRODUCTION TO POLAR EXPLORATION

Together with the dawn of aerial exploration in the polar regions came a proliferation of expeditions and sojourns, many of which became "firsts" for this new method of discovery. Ellsworth's initial exposure to polar adventures began on May 21, 1925, when he, Roald Amundsen and four other men set out in two Dornier flying boats, the N-24 and N-25, on a mission to be the first to fly to the North Pole.

PREPARATIONS (1933)

Hubert Wilkins was dispatched to Norway to purchase a strong wooden fishing vessel which would be used as the expedition ship. A 400-ton herring vessel, named the FANEFJORD, was subsequently purchased, refitted and renamed the WYATT EARP, after the famous frontier marshal whom Ellsworth admired.

Ellsworth's plane, named the POLAR STAR, was built by the Northrop Corporation of Inglewood, CA. The all-metal, low-winged monoplane was propelled by a 600 hp Wasp engine which gave her a top speed of 230 miles per hour. The plane was equipped with wing flaps which reduced landing speed to 42 mph. With a full load of gas she had a range of 7000 miles.

After I acquired a digital model of the 75105 Millennium Falcon, I set on giving it the same modifications as my real life 7965 Millennium Falcon Lego model. I was planning on uploading a model onto the Bricklink Gallery with all the same kind of changes as I did with my tangible version.

Then I realized that I was going overboard. My digitally modified 75105 has nearly double the original ~1300 piece count. So I've decided the Falcon pictured above is essentially finished. I'll set it on the BL Gallery Plate soon.
