Image created with Midjourney that was altered with the Topaz Gigapixel AI plug-in, then the Exposure X6 plug-in (blow up), then numerous edits with built-in Photoshop tools, then the Luminar Neo plug-in (accent effect and sky enhancement effects as well as noiseless, depth, highlight contrast, midtone contrast, shadow contrast, color contrast, color balance, and supercontrast adjustments), then AKVIS ArtWork (oil paint), then the Exposure X6 plug-in (clarity, luminance, and light and airy adjustments), then the Luminar Neo plug-in (exposure, smart contrast, highlights, saturation, vibrance, and whites adjustments), then the Photoshop paintbrush, and then the Exposure X6 plug-in (light and airy adjustment).

Description

600 year old city gates called Monnikendam, Amersfoort (the Netherlands)

Finally I found an hour of my time to apply some humble digital matte painting techniques on this photo I took in May 2003. Lots of PS Adjustment layers were used, together with the accompanying painted masks to achieve the picture I had in mind for months.

The grass in the original shot was much greener and saturated because of the bright sunny daylight. The sky was flatten out as well, almost to a 100% whiteness [how unprofessional :] So I desaturated the lawns to draw a bit more attention to this medieval construction. After that, I grabbed a piece of threatening sky from a shot I found somewhere in my achieves. The heavy sky is from a series of shots I took in Delfzijl (Holland) July 2003, during a huge DelfSail (Sailboats) event where the weather conditions were totally different that day.

I applied a simulation of a [L223 Eight CTO] gel on top of the artwork, played with the transparency slider and layer modes until the golden hue effect I had in mind was achieved throughout the scene.

And no, this is not HDR. In addition, I deliberately wanted to keep the look and feel of a real photograph as much as possible without getting the 100% matte painting effect.

Tomorrow morning I leave for a 10 day silent meditation retreat. This is an art piece I did in preparation for the transition.

See ya'll in 11 days!

a classic view of paris: another attempt to hdr, this time with a single raw source file. please comment!

Digitally worked from one of my own pictures

I started experimenting with digital collages during the holidays when I had no room to make my paper and fabric ones. Here is one of them, made entirely on my iPhone. An early Valentine for you.

Texture thanks to Lenabem. Try in the black box.
