In case you were wondering, John does have the emotional maturity of like, a five-yr-old. It's not all his fault, his emotions are shiny and new. He's not used to them yet. And yes, he drew his own face on it with sharpie.

It's my birthday, so I did a happy and very non-complicated thing today.

A. This is not a finished product, I wasn't sure I was going to get it done today, so I thought I'd post a progress. I've already reworked some of it and it needs color and text....

B. BUT OMG I haven't done a comic page in forever! I don't even know what to do.

This is probably going to end up being nothing, but Ive been wanting to do it for months now. it might go beyond this page. Or it might die. I have no idea.

I've been trying to work on some of my other characters (especially those about to be dolls) so of course here's john. Lol

As usual, John's tattoos were my hold up. I think I need to redesign them.

One reason I love drawing John so much is that I can do all the weird things with him I can't with my less oddball characters...who are pretty much all of them.

Sometimes, when you out and do shit dressed like a crow, you come back looking like this. It happens.

John doesn't actually feel pain like a normal person, and generally has no idea he's hurt at all, let alone how bad it is...unless there's blood gushing or bones sticking out or something obvious and gross.

He's also terrified of hospitals. He's pretty sure if he checks in, they'll never let him out again...so he just doesn't go.

Also, that's my terrible handwriting. Nine million fonts, and I decided to write it myself XD

That everyone has who rolls out of bed and shows up for the party they didn't even know was going on and immediately becomes the center of attention because they tell these huge complicated stories while acting them out with crazy gestures and they may or may not even be true because they're usually about 6 things and they're confused about at least two of them. You know. That friend.

And if you ask John, that friend is that annoying guy over there and he'll tell you all about him. XD

BJD FRIENDS: My new goal for his wardrobe is a god-awful cardigan in colors that will never match his clothes. If anyone knows where to get one of those and could tell me, that would be awesome. He's skinny and 70cm tall (truth: 69cm. I round up). I'm looking at Alice Collections right now and may buy a few and throw them at him to see what sticks....but I'm not sure they have what I really want.

ok andy ~ I added the tag sexy to my cartoon to see if it gets any unusual hits. What made me think of this cartoon was the fact that an earlier cartoon in which I wrote something like "the best way to weight is naked, barefoot, and before breakfast" is getting about a third of its hits from the word naked.

I found a sketchbook last night, and I've been doing John doodles, so today I drew Alex. I wanted to color his hair :D

I'm on a magic kick. Though I'll be honest, it's not much fun to do.....mostly because I don't know what I'm doing.

I have just created a tutorial on my website www.johnwilliamsnaturephotography.com showing how anyone can easily create digital sketches like this one on their iPad. I think these sketches would make great book illustrations, web page icons, and note cards. One of the marvelous features of the iPad is that you can take screenshots. Hopefully they help illustrate my tutorial. You have to open the blog page on my site.

I was not artistically skilled today so I abandoned everything I was attempting and did a fast and boring portrait of John instead.

My attempt at a "cute and stylized" John. His shirts get worse every time i draw him...But stupid shirts was (were?) actually a character trait I made up before he was even a doll, and it's taken me this long to see it happen XD

I was waiting for the halftone brushes to be released to finish this, but they got pushed back...so I faked it.

EDIT: got the halftones less than an hour after I uploaded this XDD LIFE! what can you do?

I've been wanting to do this for a while, and today seemed like the day!
