The glacier fed Chickaloon River, surrounded by the colorful autumn foliage, looks especially pretty this time of the year.

This is a scene that was shot during the Christmas holiday in 2013 in the mangroves just north of the Ponce De Leon Historical Park on Charlotte Harbor in Punta Gorda, Florida. The area is known for its plumed birds and wildlife... and gorgeous sunsets.

I had walked along the shoreline trying to find a good spot to photograph the little island out in the water (seemingly made of roots and trees). I would have loved to have had some sort of boat to get around... and thereby possibly avoiding the no-see-ums that were thick in the underbrush. It was warm and humid so I was wearing shorts. The bites on my legs itched fiercely for days! So, while the approach of the ducks may look perfect... I'm not so sure that my approach was. :D

Ce soir, présentation d’une petite création.

Historique.

Tonight, presentation of a small creation.

Historical.

A few years ago, during a photography course, we received a photo assignment with the theme: "A bridge and a character" and a week to do it. So I went looking for a bridge, whatever the meaning. I spent most of the day taking pictures without finding any satisfying inspiration. Then, as a last hope, I ducked under a bridge where there was a bike lane and a lot of graffitis) and started taking shots of people passing by. Then… He came… It arrived! The long-awaited character has passed and I just had to click. My imagination (and this wonderful tool that is Photoshop) did the rest of the work to finally create this image that came out...a little bit out of scope for what was expected for the assignment :)

Hope you like it ;)

Shock of the New Challenge # 56.0

~ SOTN ~ B&W ~ Monochrome ~

Homes are going through a transition in the US this weekend. This is the time that we put away our autumn decorations - and bring out our Christmas tree and poinsettias, as we sing "Deck the Halls". Happy decorating to all!

Can you hear them?...

The plane is a flying B-25 bomber which I turned into a silhouette and then dropped as a shadow.

I got the idea after observing the behavior of geese toward anything other than being chased on foot. The choice of plane stemmed purely out of a personal interest in vintage airplanes. All other birds and animals do react to the level of sound and/or looming, moving shadows from above.

Using duplicate bookend images of the left side of this leaf closeup, I first created perfect symmetry and then reverted back to asymmetric symmetry through mosaic tile size... why not.

Since its upload yesterday, I decided that the mosaic impact on the leaf transformed it into an abstract tree and as such, I could take this image further by exhibiting the visual effect of seasonal changes from winter-to-spring-to-summer; maintaining the existing colours of the original leaf ruled-out autumn colours... again, why not.

Tweaked twist on the downtown bunch of buildings along University Street in Seattle.
