Überwältigt vom Unterschied, den lediglich ein paar Sonnenstrahlen und ein imposanter Himmel machen können, muss ich euch hier noch mal beide Bilder zeigen!

What a difference a day makes. Raining again and blowing a howler, so a quick photo out of the hall window of the December view.
Hadn't got the camera on the right settings, but then couldn't be bothered with a retake. Partly because as I'm also waiting for important news from my sister and don't want to be far from the laptop.

Just messing about with some filters on my phone, I was taken by how different this scene at Stoney Clouds looked with brighter colours and thought it would be interesting seeing them together!

Jesus came to bring spiritual LIFE to the spiritually dead and set the captives FREE! FREE from RELIGION, ERROR and outright LIES, so WE might serve THE LIVING GOD! In SPIRIT and in TRUTH!
So you'll KNOW, and not think you're to bad for God to love. The Christian LIFE isn't about how good WE are, because NONE of us are! It's about how GOOD JESUS IS! Because JESUS LOVES US, so much he died in our place and took the punishment for all of our sins on himself. The wages of sin is DEATH, and Jesus took the death WE so richly deserved for us and died in our place. The good news is, there's no more punishment for sin left. WE, you and I were all born forgive as a result of the crucifixion of God himself on the cross that took away the sins of the whole world. All we have to do is believe it, and put your Faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ. That my friends is REAL UNCONDITIONAL LOVE! YOU ARE LOVED. ❤️ ✝️ ❤️

I didn't see as much today at the swamp, but I managed to find another new species. Either a Pacific Forktail male found in northern California and Oregon only, or a Green-eyed Forktail found at the swamp, take your pick. Very difficult to tell the difference since the male of the former and the immature of the latter are darn near identical.
There were hundreds of people at the swamp and reserve today, along with hundreds of dogs and perhaps a hundred children under the age of 6. Imagine if the weather had been good and not overcast. Both from a nature and people standpoint, this was not the norm.
Anyway, Ischnura cervula, the Pacific forktail, is a species of narrow-winged damselfly in the family Coenagrionidae. It is found in Central America and western North America. This one was probably four or five days old. This may be a very interesting time for me and the dragons and damsels since, in previous years, I didn't get started until most were adults, and some already on their last ... wings.
Tomorrow, I may post the Pied-billed grebe with a crawdad going down the hatch or a Great Blue Heron. Or maybe, it's time to bring out wildflowers that I've finally identified.

Earlier this year Grocery Outlets had umbrella stands for about $18 and I bought a few, for my house and my daughters at the lake. I have great fun in finding different perches and positioning them to create different bokehs...this one being against the hill with brown grasses and oak trees. I can sit here for hours at a time as the birds come to the feeders. When this one male finally landed on this carefully placed perch and started looking around, it was fun to see 'what a difference' a turn of the head could make!

A couple of local jobs switching around Pomona Yard, both sporting former N&W SD40-2s, pause beside each other for a moment, allowing one to see the distinct differences that time has brought to these sister engines.
What a difference a day makes; last Friday I was at a press call for the Moscow State Circus and the on Saturday I photographed a massive Orange Lodge march through Johnstone involving over 40 bands (it took at least 40 minutes to pass my viewpoint). While most people probably think that such marches are only held in Northern Ireland they are very much part of life here in Scotland as well as in parts of England. The weather was kind for once, if not a little too sunny given the length of their march, marching all round the town while playing their instruments and carrying their various banners is no mean feat!!

On Wednesday morning I cut a hole out in the wall, we then threaded the beam through the hole, and propped it. I then dropped the doorway opening; and I took out the fireplace in the background.
Of course the bricks that were taken out needed stacking (ready for cleaning, and re-use). The debris needed taking down the stairs to the skip outside. This is the first floor of the building.
On Thursday morning I straightened up the sides of the door opening, ready to take the lintels next week. I can then wall up above the lintels, remove the beam and take out the props.
I started to wall up the fireplace opening in the background too.

The old boat awaits another winter. It may stay in its current state for some time, but then again, one huge storm could make a big difference. It is currently broadside to the mid day sun so lots of light on this shot.

The meadows where yesterday's 'galaxy' shot was taken. This is a horisontal sweep panorama with the phone held vertical (in portrait mode). Processing the previous shot in Lightroom (on the PC) I aimed for realism. Editing this in Snapseed (on the phone) I aimed for painterly extremism. Just for a bit of difference :)

This weekend the steam locomotive 26.26 has made its first official journey with passengers after its restoration! BDZ organized several Christmas trains to Bankya with this old lady and also on the narrow gauge railway to Velingrad. As always there were a lot of interest for the trains and despite the bad weather, many enthusiats went to ride or just to see the retro locomotives. On the photo steam loco 26.26 is waiting at Bankya station while the modern Siemens train is ready for departure with the noon service towards Sofia. Interesting fact is that there are exactly 100 years difference between those two railway units! Steam locomotive 26.26 of BDZ was made in 1908 and the Siemens Desiro EMU has been assembled in 2008.

This species is a far northwestern North American breeder... mostly in Canada, but including our northern border states and Alaska. It passes through our lower western states only during its migratory excursions. This was my second sighting up here and I'm not that familiar with this species. The prior observation here was in 2017. I spotted both sexes this weekend. This may be a first-year bird... but the color differences of the females are very subtle and you likely need ideal lighting to make this distinction. Males tend to have darker head markings than this.
