The difference between a "Burg" and a "Schloss" (castle) is that a Burg is more like a fortress, built for protection from the enemies, and a Schloss was for the nobility to reside in, and very lavishly decorated.

Over time, some of the Burgs were also turned into castles.

Burg Eltz is somewhat unusual, in that it's been in the same family that had it built over 850 years ago, and Count and Countess Eltz still live there today.

NOT SQUARE nekonuko Nakamori @ Itakos Art Gallery

November 28 Saturday 2020

Opening party 10:00AM SLT

If you know what I mean, all my Flickr pics are just square.

I love that format so much.very very...

But sometimes there is definitely a voice in my hart that wants to be wider more.

Maybe... you also want to see a not square pics?

This time, Akim has given me a opportunity of new challenge.

So,I discovered new enjoyment for creating works, and had a great experience.

I'd be happy if you could find such new joy in my work and let it move you.

Thank you for Akim Alonso and all of you as support me always.

We will have an opening party.

But it's midnight for me(3AM).SL has no borders, but we can't change the time difference.

The earth is round. And it's so large. The best answer is hard to find.

So, we are diverse. Let's enjoy the difference too.

I would love to meet you all, but if I will be silent at the party, please kindly step on my tail.

Hugs and Meow =(^.^)=

Aboutme

Shot on the streets of Amsterdam with the Olympus E-M1 and Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 12-40mm F2.8 lens.

It has been a long day for me yesterday.

It's not that easy to get help in a situation of big pain if you have to go a longer way for it (for me 65 km by car).

But the feeling after treatment, when you feel the difference directly...

And I had a beautiful view on the mountains too. 😊

sorry everyone for re-posting the photo but I just happen to like the monochrome edit much better than the earlier color version (which will be removed presently)

The Zagreb Funicular connects the city's Lower Town with the historic Upper Town. Its 66-metre (217 ft) track makes it one of the shortest public-transport funiculars in the world. The funicular was built in 1890 and has been in operation since April 23, 1893. Initially it had steam engines, which were substituted with electrical engines in 1934.

The funicular runs on a 1,200 mm (3 ft 11 1⁄4 in) gauge track, track length is only 66 m (217 ft), but height difference is 30.5 m (100 ft) and inclination 52%. This makes it one of the shortest, but also one of the steepest funiculars in the world. It runs at a speed of 1.5 m/s (4.9 ft/s), needing 55 seconds to cross the distance. (from Wikipedia)

The Highland is a Scottish breed of rustic cattle. It originated in the Scottish Highlands and the Outer Hebrides islands of Scotland and has long horns and a long shaggy coat. It is a hardy breed, bred to withstand the intemperate conditions in the region.

Highland cattle descend from the Hamitic Longhorn, which were brought to Britain by Neolithic farmers in the second millennium BC, as the cattle migrated northwards through Africa and Europe. Highland cattle were historically of great importance to the economy, with the cattle being raised for meat primarily and sold in England.

The 1885 herd book describes two distinct types of Highland cattle. One was the West Highland, or Kyloe, originating and living mostly in the Outer Hebrides, which had harsher conditions. These cattle tended to be smaller, to have black coats and, due to their more rugged environment, to have long hair. These cattle were named due to the practice of relocating them. The kyles are narrow straits of water, and the cattle were driven across them to get to market.

The other type was the mainland; these tended to be larger because their pastures provided richer nutrients. They came in a range of colours, most frequently dun or red. These types have now been crossbred so that there is no distinct difference.

Since the early 20th century, breeding stock has been exported to many parts of the world, especially Australia and North America.

It is estimated that there are now around 15,000 Highland cattle in the United Kingdom.

"The difference between perseverance and obstinacy is that one comes from a strong will, and the other from a strong won't."

Henry Ward Beecher

I'm sure everyone has had that sort of a day....just feeling a bit obstinate. Apparently insects exhibit those feelings, too.

Finally! A sunny, winter day with lovely fresh snow. We received about a foot of snow last night and so we headed out to get some photos before the wind knocked all the snow off. The temperature was -13C, but with the wind it was more like -25C. A bit crisp, but the sun made it all good.

Driving through the snow, the car smoothed and compacted the snow between the wheel ruts, but we had no problems. Snow tires and AWD make a big difference.

Let it be such a year that;

there will be no difference between rich and poor,

nor you and me.

Let everyone have a home in the winter.

Let it be such a year that; living,

like loving, will be from the heart.

If there is a complaint, let it be about death.

Let it be far from the youth.

I said recently that I had in mind to start a series about the Castle of Neuchâtel. I know that these images appear appealing to me partly because I know this place. However, I always find interesting to see the same subject and the same composition on different light conditions. The Cathedral of Rouen by Monet is probably the best example of this ...

So, if you want, you can have a look on the related album ...

Moreover, it's quite rare to see this castle covered with snow ... Here again, almost no one care, but for people living there and knowing this place, it makes a difference ;) ...

A single grain of rice can tip the scale. One man may be the difference between victory and defeat.

The winter storm of two days ago left structures and the shoreline coated with ice and snow. What a difference a day can make!

The cable car in Dinant connects the city center with the citadel, which is perched high above the Meuse River. This modern, pillarless aerial tramway allows visitors to comfortably overcome the height difference of approximately 100 meters and offers stunning views of the city and the river during the short ride.

One image was taken last night at 10 PM. The other image was taken at 8 AM this morning. Do you see the one difference? Poor Pumpkin! 😂

A stunning 314 (96 meter) waterfall that is easily accessible.

This is a composite of two photos. The tell is the difference between the water of the waterfall and the river.

Shot One is the waterfall and shot Two is the rest of the scene. With the wind blowing, all the longer waterfall shots caused the trees to sway and blur. Fortunately, I had the foresight to take both fast and longer exposures.

Hong Kong Disneyland.

I got so much inspirations when I started to capture the bubbles.

Timing, was out of my control.

I started to realize that,

I cannot control all the things with the same method,

I cannot expect all the outcomes with the same way.

This was the most wonderful inspiration I get from Disneyland@

The difference between the two is startling when they're close together. The Great Egret towers over the Snowy Egret! Lovely birds that look so much alike from a distance but are so startlingly different when seen together.

LIVE!!!

Kingfishers or Alcedinidae are a family of small to medium-sized, brightly colored birds in the order Coraciiformes. They have a cosmopolitan distribution, with most species found in the tropical regions of Africa, Asia, and Oceania. The family contains 114 species and is divided into three subfamilies and 19 genera. All kingfishers have large heads, long, sharp, pointed bills, short legs, and stubby tails. Most species have bright plumage with only small differences between the sexes.

What a difference it makes when the sun comes out. Loch Ness side is a twisty road but there are parts where you can stop and enjoy the scenery.

I have done this shot before. The difference is that, today, no parked car is obstructing the view. This is the gatehouse (and one of the gates) leading to the Tudor mansion of Markyate Cell. The gatehouse was built in the 19th century, though keeping the Elizabethan style of the 16th century. It is a listed building today and a private residence.
