Dharamshala is a thriving refuge of Tibetan culture, with monks in crimson robes walking the streets, and countless tiny bookstores selling books by the Dalai Lama and other Buddhist figures about meditation and spirituality. In the streets, numerous roadside vendors sell CDs of Tibetan chanting, Tibetan jewelry, and religious figurines. Visiting the town is a refreshing reminder of the continuing survival of Tibetan culture despite the efforts of Chinese authorities to suppress it.
If you look closely, you may notice the black and white sign slightly to the right of the center of this picture. It reads: "Tibet/ One/People/One Nation/ Fifty Years of Resistance/ 1959-2009."
In dharamshala first ODI was played between India and England in January 2013, which England won by 7 wickets.
Not a very impressive building, but a safe home in Northern India for the Tibetan leadership as the Chinese government makes continuing efforts to control Tibet. Dharamsala is home to the Dalai Lama, so this location is not a coincidence.
