Dharamshala is a city in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. Surrounded by cedar forests on the edge of the Himalayas, this hillside city is home to the Dalai Lama and the Tibetan government-in-exile.
Dharamshala is a favorite trekking spot for many. Situated at an elevation of 1,500 km, Dharamshala is a perfect getaway for adventure and leisure seekers. Filled with deodar and pine trees, the place is dotted with architectural ruins of the Kangra Fort and the Nurpur Fort. These forts are located at about 66 km from Dharamshala and bring out the architectural style of the region.
War Memorial (or Saheed Smarak) in Dharmashala, Himachal Pradesh
War Memorial (rather “Martyrs Memorial” or “Saheed Smarak”) is another place to visit near Dharmashala. This has been raised to commemorate the post independence martyrs of Himachal Pradesh. It is an open park with artistic structures and with war related artifacts. You may need about 1 hour to visit this park. You can get good backgournds to take photographs in this park. . In this side of Dharmashala there are typically 4 tourist points, viz., Kunal Pathri temple, tea garden, War memorial and Cricket stadium. Taxi takes about 800 rs to cover these four places and bring you back to Dharmashala.
