Over the past months I have led the development of Oxfam's global Strategy for the G20 and the BRICSAM countries. This photo shows the Oxfam team in Seoul doing a taekwondo stunt that helped us put pressure on the leaders at the Seoul G20 to agree the Seoul Development Consensus. Thanks to this work, the G20 has agreed to include development issues on the agenda at every future summit, which is good news for development and for poor countries.

This area is best described as consisting of derelict or under utilised commercial docks.
One thing that you may notice is how badly scorched the grass is because of an unusual heatwave here in Ireland.
Here is a description of the planned future for the area: " The architectural vision for the North Quays SDZ is to create a destination quality sustainable modern quarter connected to and consolidating the City Centre while facilitating the natural expansion of the northern city environs. The development of the North Quays will reinstate the primacy of the river by creating a compact city core centred on the River Suir. Capitalising on the unique character of the site, the architecture will seek to develop to the greatest possible extent the sites assets, including the long south facing river frontage, proximity to the existing city core and the proposed incorporation of a public transport interchange. The architecture will be design led and seek to develop schemes of high quality design merit with the confidence to deliver a new and exciting interpretation of the quays while respecting the traditional streetscape of the South Quays that has evolved over many centuries."
State Road 37 at West 3rd Street in Bloomington, Monroe County, Indiana; looking northwest.
As part of the Indiana I-69 Corridor Project, Section 5, State Road 37 in Monroe County and part of Morgan County to the north is being upgraded to interstate standards to become Interstate 69.
In Bloomington, the road will be expanded one additional traffic lane in each direction, which will make I-69 a six-lane highway as it passes through the western edge of the city. In lieu of the typical interstate median separating traffic, a 4 1/2 foot concrete barrier wall will be constructed instead, the rebar for which is pictured.

From Structural Adjustment to the Post-Washington Consensus and Beyond: Paradigm Shifts in Development Aid
Matthew Winters, Professor, Department of Political Science, University of Illinois
At the conclusion of the Cold War, new ideological space opened up for foreign aid to be more clearly dedicated to economic development and poverty alleviation. At the same moment, intellectual tides were turning against structural adjustment programming, which had stimulated little economic growth over the previous decade and, in fact, was accused of having led to increased, rather than decreased, immiseration. By the late 1990s, there had been a discursive shift away from the neoliberal economic policies of the Washington Consensus, and the international development industry was discussing good governance and the need to combat corruption; the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund replaced their structural adjustment lending with so-called poverty reduction lending. The turn of the millennium brought the poverty-focused Millennium Development Goals, and the first decade of the 21st century brought a series of conferences on aid effectiveness and the rising prominence of evidence-based foreign aid. How great are the changes that the development industry has seen over the past 30 years? How different is the post-Washington Consensus era from that which preceded it? And what are the implications of these changes for economic development and poverty alleviation?
