Slobozia Mare, Moldova
Ecaterina Chiciuc, 60, has been carrying water to her house from a well in her neighbourhood since she got married at 20.
In Slobozia Mare, residents and migrants abroad gradually joined forces to form a Home Town Association, now an officially registered NGO. Over 200,000 people from 5 cities and 18 villages in Moldova have benefited from the Migration and Local Development project, implemented by UNDP in Moldova with funding from the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation. The project aims to improve local infrastructure and living conditions. It brings together residents and migrants of villages to prioritize the main issues facing their communities, and helps connect them to municipalities and international donors to help them solve the issues. Nearly US$800,000 has been invested so far. Out of this amount, approximately $118,000 represent crowdfunding efforts by Moldovan migrants living abroad. Another $214,000 were provided by local authorities and $460,000 by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation.

New York, 17 July 2017 - Mr. Jitendra Shankar Mathur, Secretary of the Ministry of Panchayati Raj, India.
‘The SDGs in Action: Eradicating Poverty and Promoting Inclusive Prosperity in a Changing World,’ a high level side event organized by the UN Development Group, in conjunction with the High Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF 2017), discussed how countries at various stages of development, including those faced with complex situations such as violent conflict and fragility are accelerating efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The theme of the HLPF, ‘Eradicating poverty and promoting prosperity in a changing world’ challenges the UN and Member States to hold true to the 2030 Agenda pledge to leave no one behind and to reach the furthest behind first.
Mr. Achim Steiner, UNDG Chair and UNDP Administrator highlighted on the need to pursue an integrated approach versus “cherry-picking” priority areas, where the UN can help identify synergies and trade-offs in different country contexts to determine interventions that yield benefits across several SDGs.
“The critical importance of leaving no one behind and reaching the furthest behind first: here the UN can help countries better understand and address inequalities in all their forms”.

These structures seem to be abandoned development on Bribie island as you enter Pacific harbour.. Absolutely fascinating. The white on these 'structures is actually styrofoam type material, perhaps used for insulation in the process of the building of them. It was not easy to get these as I had to take photos through a fence that runs around it.

A ten-day course called ‘Certificate Course on Development Finance’ was organised by Center for Financial Accountability (CFA) at Janki Devi Memorial College in Delhi.
The objective of the workshop, which was organised from March 5 th to April 5th 2019, was to introduce students to the world of finance and critical discussion on development finance. The course attempted to help students build critical perspective on development finance and introduce them to financial institutions, their roles, relevance and critiques.
This course introduced different aspects of finance – looking at the fundamental premises on which the world of finance is systematically built, understanding the role of financial institutions beyond lending/banking, addressing the contemporary issues related to finance in India and critically looking at the gaps in governance, transparency and accountability in finance / of financial institutions. The workshop facilitators made finance palatable and highlighted the integral nature of finance in all walks of our lives.
The course was a combination of lectures, seminars, group discussion and a short assignment and evaluation. Around 40 participants including students from different regular courses such as Economics and Political Science attended this course.
Teams comprised of students from the College of Engineering, Ross School of Business, School of Information, and Stamps School of Art & Design created new products for preteens, incorporating the use of active technology, to improve physical and mental health maintenance and outcomes.
