Developing Leaders Day 2014

The Scare Emerald Damselfly (L. dryas) is a medium sized metallic green insect that1, unlike most other damselflies, usually rests with its wings half open at an angle of approximately 45deg. Once mature the male and female develop different colouration with the males usually being more noticeable than the females. Adult males have bright blue eyes and develop a powder blue pruinescence on the thorax between the wings and on the segments at the top and bottom of the abdomen.

I can now develop my own B&W film.

I realized partway through that I wasn't doing my agitation completely right..... but it seems to be OK.

I decided to try using Arista EDU Ultra (which is really Fomapan) because it was really cheap and I wouldn't feel bad about screwups... And I developed it in Rodinal 1+50.

Very exciting! I can't wait to get it on the scanner! :)

This chart was created after digesting the information about developing CineStill (C-41 colour process) films at the Freestyle website. It is based on using a Unicolor (or similar) 1 litre capacity kit and 135-36/120 roll films at 102°F. Such kits are nominally rated for a capacity of Qty 8 135-36 or Qty 12 135-24 rolls of C-41 film. However, many claim to be able to process considerably more films than the nominal quantity. That said, chemical exhaustion is a known issue, and this chart attempts to provide a starting point for quantifying how much time compensation is required. Plus two percent per roll seems to be the magic number.

Since I ONLY process C-41 films in batches of three, compensation for each successive tank of three films is highlighted in yellow. Note that I only batch process films when I have sufficient to use an entire C-41 kit within a few days. Eighteen rolls is my absolute limit per 1 litre kit. Use of this information is entirely at your own risk.
