Dear Flickr friends: I am very grateful for group invites. However, I am determined to protect the models and myself from inappropriate interest in the photos. Therefore, I will NEVER accept invitations which come from groups that I am not permitted to check ("This group is not available to you"). I hope for your understanding.

I love animals with all my heart (I'm vegan for them) but I always skip trying to take photos of them because I don't have a good lens for that.

But last Friday hiking with my kids in the beautiful Jackson Bottom Wetlands Preserve, I was determined to at least try to take some photos. So with my kit lens 55-250 mm I captured some and I was so happy to see that I can have some nice photos. Maybe not too close or with all the details I would like but beautiful at the end.

It was a nice gift to my soul to have some captures of my dear animals as memories of a great day with my kids enjoying Nature.

Note: I did some research and I think this is a Great Egret but please correct me if I'm wrong! I don't know so much about birds.

Three month old and he is doing his best to crawl and take steps when held up. Go boy :-)

getting sick lately? i spent nye and day, yesterday and today down with something. i think it's the salmonella outbreak going around.

and when i get sick, i get my migraines too. the only part of the experience worth repeating is the hallucinatory half-wake/dream states. wow. i could make some money in hollywood with these blockbuster horrors ...

remind me to tell you sometime about discovering i'm really an alien named "tig" from the planet "xalene" on earth to take different human forms for observation purposes. and how i found my way back "home" by the galaxy-wide night-sky painting that said "tig, this way to xalene" with arrows pointing the way ...

or the one about my self-determined walking tour of cambodia, the tourist traps and the bombing of the temples (both frightening each in their own) ...

or last night's not-so-mellow-drama whereby my best friend from SF was kidnapped, tortured, held for ransom while i tried to get the police involved but they wouldn't believe me because he was gay and the kidnappers were black and so it was an obvious case of me being a drama-queen and racist ...

or the other one last night where i went insane and couldn't communicate this to my 2 sisters who were getting married to each other that day, and the whole family thought i was just trying to ruin their special day while inside i was screaming in terror at what was happening to me, but all they could see was me looking freaked-out or acting like i was depressed ...

(no it wasn't mushrooms that made me sick.)

time to shut-down all circuits again. dearth of stimuli, here i come!

NS 1144 with TEE 6 “Rheingold” from Basel / Munich. In the end, this train was more aimed at tourists than business travelers. The wing train (TEE 16) from Munich, which was combined with the train from Basel in Mannheim, determined the route more by the beauty of the landscape than the speed. After the stop, the train will drive to its final destination Amsterdam.

Tiananmen Square was originally constructed in 1417 by the Ming Emperor Yongle (aka Zhu Di, ruled 1402 - 1424) as the Outer Court of the Forbidden City. It was expanded by Mao Zedong (Chairman of the Chinese Communist Party from 1943 to 1976) and now covers an area of 21.573 ha. The Monument to the People's Heroes (a 37.94 m obelisk completed in 1958) and the Mausoleum of Mao Zedong (completed in 1977) are located in the Square. Detail of one of two monuments at the north end of the mausoleum is seen here. In 2024 The Tiananmen Square was included in the UNESCO World Heritage Site inscribed as "Beijing Central Axis: A Building Ensemble Exhibiting the Ideal Order of the Chinese Capital".

Late afternoon, against a strong wind, and sand blowing into it right from ahead (like into its face) this dog braved a sandy beach.

A female Hummingbird in Atlantic Canada

I think I have determined it's a spider (8 legs). It was very Tiny, like the size of my little finger nail. And... I think it is loaded with babies. Could it be.... oh I hope not but could it be a brown recluse spider??? These are the sorts of things that keep me awake at night!!

It was shot in a studio. In order to express her strength of will, I photographed her directly facing the camera. I applied wind from the side to make the tears appear. The photo was taken to create an impressive atmosphere by adding movement to the hair.

It's amazing how I can look at one picture of us & see our lives as we lived it so far continue to flash so rapidly. We are so determined to show the world who we are because we already know eachother.

Small of stature, quick and alert, disgustingly filthy, completely irascible and quite determined once a goal is set, gnolls are the expendables of evil forces in fantasy warfare.

We've seen the Gnoll Hunters * which leaves their only other useful function: thievery. Gnolls are not as good at robbing as they are at hunting. The lure of the object they are to steal does not hold as firm a lock on their attention as the scent of prey, and they can become distracted off to other matters. Also, Gnoll Robbers are most effective alone or in a pair. But, they are pack creatures and it is difficult to isolate them.

Those caveats aside, if you want an object you want, perhaps heavily guarded or in a hard-to-reach place, a Gnoll Robber that does remain focused is quite capable.

While a pack of gnolls can be dangerous to anyone, their lack of discipline, resolve, and focus results in gnolls rarely seen on the battlefield but useful in hunting and robbing.

An unexpected surprise yesterday! Thank goodness for smart phones!

Posting for Sara.

The images are ready for you!

Sitting on the other side of the bush to me, looking determined.

The male Blackpoll warbler marches up this branch in search of whatever tasty bugs he was feasting on. These guys are chickadee size for reference. If you enlarge it here it gets a bit bigger than life size!

The first time I have seen Red in 2 years she and her cub couldn't have had better timing. She saved the day...hard to believe...the male that was getting too close for comfort took off like a rocket when Red arrived on the scene. She is not a large bear but she is mean, she gave the signal for her cub to hide in the bush then hit the beach with a determined strut directly at the boar....he ran as fast as he could...we didn't see him again for hours. Thanks Red we owe you one :)

She seems somehow, thru the tears, determined. I'm not sure what shes so determined about. I have less problems and less convictions.
