Rangsundøya or Rangsundøy is an island in Rødøy Municipality in Nordland county, Norway. The 7.6-square-kilometre (2.9 sq mi) island of Rangsundøya is located off the Helgeland coast in a large group of islands. The island of Gjerdøya lies to the north, Storselsøya lies to the southwest, Renga to the northeast, and the mainland is to the south and east. The highest point on the island is the 267-metre (876 ft) tall mountain Rangsundtinden.(Wikipedia)
Nestled among the vast clouds of star-forming regions like this one lie potential clues about the formation of our own solar system.
This image from the NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope features AFGL 5180, a beautiful stellar nursery located in the constellation of Gemini (the Twins).
At the center of the image, a massive star is forming and blasting cavities through the clouds with a pair of powerful jets, extending to the top right and bottom left of the image. Light from this star is mostly escaping and reaching us by illuminating these cavities, like a lighthouse piercing through the storm clouds.
Stars are born in dusty environments and although this dust makes for spectacular images, it can prevent astronomers from seeing stars embedded in it. Hubble’s Wide Field Camera 3 (WFC3) instrument is designed to capture detailed images in both visible and infrared light, meaning that the young stars hidden in vast star-forming regions like AFGL 5180 can be seen much more clearly.

Prompt: a detailed fine art painting of a dairy farm, with a large barn in the background and a pickup truck in the foreground. The barn has a sign that reads "Dairy Shop" and "Connecticut" The truck is yellow with rusty spots and is parked in front of the barn. There are cows grazing in the field to the right of the barn. The sky is overcast with a few clouds. The ground is covered in snow. The painting has a nostalgic, old-timey feel. The style of Norman Rockwell --ar 14:11 --v 6.1

This is my usual squirrel entertainer, and this time she is getting ready for a race down the post. She put on a great show today with just too many photos to choose from and plenty of laughs.
After uploading all my photos of my modeling work today this is how my building is looking... at the front of the building. I still need to add sidewalks, people, store signs, and a little more weathering. I hope to finish it this week. :D
The Neo-Gothic style employed by architect Alexander North is seen here in the brickwork above the east door. Although this was completed in 1911, the style is reminiscent of the work carried out by Augustus Pugin in England in the 1840s.

Basilica of St. Mary of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Gdańsk
St. Mary's Church (Polish: Bazylika Mariacka), or formally the Basilica of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, is a Roman Catholic church in Gdańsk, Poland . Its construction began in 1379, or 1343 according to the official website. It is currently one of the two or three largest brick churches in the world, and one of the two or three largest north of the Alps. Between 1536 and 1572 St. Mary's Church was used for Roman Catholic and Lutheran services simultaneously. From the 16th century until 1945, when Danzig became Polish Gdańsk, it was the second largest Lutheran church in the world. Inside the church is room for 25,000 people.
The church was severely damaged late in World War II, during the storming of Danzig city by the Red Army in March 1945.
The reconstruction started shortly after the war in 1946. The roof was rebuilt in August 1947, using reinforced concrete. After the basic reconstruction was finished, the church was reconsecrated on November 17, 1955. The reconstruction and renovation of the interior is an ongoing effort.

I'm so very happy I managed to capture this creature. I have always been kinda scared of locusts and this just confirms how in the right I am, this thing is positively alien.

The national rail platforms at Eridge station have recently been spruced up in a style reminiscent to the original Southern Railway days. The cast iron supports to the platform canopy caught my eye, so I made a point of including one in this image of a Spa Valley Railway train on the adjacent platform.
With Brush type 2 diesel 31 430 in BR blue livery, coupled to a GWR liveried coach in a Southern Railway painted station I opted for a monochrome image.

These finely-detailed ceramic parts have been 3D printed using simulated lunar regolith as part of an ESA-led investigation into how 3D printing could be used to support a lunar base.
“These parts have the finest print resolution ever achieved with objects made of regolith simulant, demonstrating a high level of print precision and widening the range of uses such items could be put to,” comments ESA materials engineer Advenit Makaya. “If one needs to print tools or machinery parts to replace broken parts on a lunar base, precision in the dimensions and shape of the printed items will be vital.
“They are the work of innovative Austrian company Lithoz, working on 3D printed ceramics.
“Normally their print process is based on materials such as aluminium oxide, zirconium oxide or silicon nitride. What we’ve demonstrated here is that it can also work with raw regolith, which is a collection of various different types of oxides, chiefly silicon oxide but also aluminium, calcium and iron oxides, among others.”
Ground and sieved down to particle size, the regolith grains are mixed with a light-reacting binding agent, laid down layer-by-layer then hardened by exposing them to light. The resulting printed part is then ‘sintered’ in an oven to bake it solid.
Johannes Homa, CEO of Lithoz added: “Thanks to our expertise in the additive manufacturing of ceramics, we were able to achieve these results very quickly. We believe there’s a huge potential in ceramic additive manufacturing for the Moon.”
As a next step, the parts will be tested to check their strength and mechanical properties, with the idea that similar parts could one day be employed to replace parts in a lunar base without requiring replacements from Earth.

Another detailed architectural image from a recent trip to New Mexico. This image has more than meets the eye - look at the shadows created by the metal structure....and try to figure out exactly how they fall like they do - it takes a while to get the camera at just the right angle to create this effect, but I thought it was pretty cool.
