The one you have been waiting for is here, but you just don't know yet.
As I was staring down from the century-old mansion, I was eagerly waiting for people coming into my frame. Like the preceding image, Faith, this is another boring image that I need to get out from my system.
I was drawn into photojournalism late last year, especially the ones featuring in Time magazine about war, life and everything else that invoke emotion. I discovered that a powerful image didn't necessarily have to be colorful or dramatic. A powerful image that is real and can make people think and feel is a great image too. It also requires people with experience in order to accept its existence.

In the mid 1800s, the United States of America was growing. The Louisiana purchase of 1803 was secured after the War of 1812 and Florida was purchased from Spain in 1819. The population grew from just 4 million in 1790 to 20 million in 1845. The desire of many in the new nation was to expand westward as it was seen as Americas destiny to rule from sea to shining sea and to expand the Anglo-Saxon American way of life. Some Americans moved into the Mexican territory of Texas where they would soon start a revolt in 1836 and declare their desire to join the U.S., which succeeded in 1845. In the following year, the United States and Great Britain came to an agreement regarding the Oregon country resulting in American claims over the territory south of the 49th parallel being solidified, with the exception of Vancouver island. The Mexicans were outraged by the annexation of Texas, and war between the U.S. and Mexico broke out soon after lasting until 1848. The Mexicans would lose more than half of their territory including California. This would pave the way for further American settlement westwards. However, these territories were home various Native American tribes who previously resisted Spanish and Mexican authority. Unlike the Spanish and the Mexicans, the average American was armed and could mostly fend for themselves against Indian attacks.
The idea of Manifest Destiny was achieved, for now. The United States more than doubled its territory since its founding and was able to consolidate its gains with American settlers in the long term. Many of these settlers and pioneers sought to start a new life, or get rich quick in the California gold rush. Further expansion would resume after the American Civil War of 1861-1865 where the United States would expand beyond continental North America, but that is a story for another day.
For the 250th anniversary of America’s founding, I decided to build something related to the settlers and pioneers who built this country. In my opinion, they don’t get enough credit in modern day America. I’ll likely revisit American westward expansion in the future, so stay tuned.

Even if Lassie looks better on this days…she’s still tired and feels the heat so much…
We made some x rays when she was feeling worse and we even found out that she has a hip dysplasia…
The legs you see there are Candy’s ones…
When she was less than 1 years old we found she had a bad hip dysplasia….
What Is It?
Hip dysplasia is a malformation of the hip joint where the "ball" (head of the femur) doesn't fit properly into the "socket" (acetabulum).
Candy’s left ball is out but Lassie’s one not yet. They are not smooth and they do not fit properly…
So this pic explains Lassie’s worry face…wondering if she will be like Candy…
And dogs keep on walking even if it hurts…they’re so strong…
But if they are still walking…that’s a good thing, I think

Sweet little Destiny (or Dessie as she is known by her loved ones). Favourite things to do: sleeping, rubbing annoyingly between Davids legs when he is trying to shave, doing impression of NASCAR rally down the hallway when she thinks you are going to the laundry where the food bowls are, cuddling up and purring..but only when SHE deems it the right time to do so.
