Comparing two Designer Belle and Beast doll couples, from the Disney Store.

On the left is the Designer Princess Belle and Classic Beast/Prince dolls, from 2011. There was no Designer Beast in 2011, so I have to make do with the Classic Beast doll. Belle is on her custom doll stand. Her face and head mold are unique to this doll. She has a beehive hairdo, rooted antennae eyelashes, jeweled gold satin bodice, a golden organza skirt made of ruffled roses, multiple layered tulle petticoat, and gold gloves. She has golden earrings and is holding long stemmed red rose.

On the right is the recently released Fairytale Designer Belle and the Beast Doll Set. Since it is a limited edition doll set, and about double the price of the 2011 couple, the dolls are considerably more detailed and movie accurate. In particular, the Beast has a custom built body and head molds, and a very elaborate costume. He is also over an inch taller than the Belle doll, as well as being much wider. Unlike the play doll version, this Beast cannot be transformed into the Prince. Belle's face mold is the same as the 2013 version, but has a face paint that is considerably more movie accurate, in addition to having rooted eyelashes. Her hair is based on the 2012 Classic doll's hairdo, rather than the simpler and more movie accurate 2013 Classic doll. The side curls of the 2012 doll have been exaggerated in this Designer doll, to extend well past her neck. Her dress is very elaborate, with heavy use of golden embroidery and jewels, and the top half of her skirt is gathered. She has full length gold colored gloves, and floor length petticoat with lacy hem.

When I approached this guy about my doing a sunglass project ... he was really into it ... turns out he's a sunglass designer ...how freaking cool was that ... I so hope our paths meet again one day ...

In-Store release of Disney Designer Collection Premiere Series merchandise, on Friday September 28, 2018. My local Disney Store had all six of the Designer Princesses on display. Snow White was deboxed, and in a clear plastic display case. The others were in their boxes, and Guests were free to handle the boxes and inspect the dolls up close. They also had several of the ColourPop Designer makeup items for sale. Next to the Designer dolls were items related to them, including jewelry and accessories. The Designer items that were released last week were available for sale here. That included the two LE pin sets, the LE ornament set, the notecard set and wine glass set. I took detailed photos of the Belle and Tiana, the two dolls that I hadn't seen in person yet.

Versus is the youthful cutting edge Versace brand that bridges the gap between the energy of street culture and high fashion with designer clothing, accessories and fragrance. Versus Barbie® doll wears a bold knitted jump suit with artful color cutouts and an ultra-short faux fur jacket. Innovative, modern and fun, Versus Barbie® doll is all about contemporary fashion.

The Prince has been fully deboxed, and is lying down on a counter.

The Prince's outfit is very well made and fitted to his body. It consists of a dark brown faux leather vest, a deep red velvet and satin cape permanently attached at the shoulders of the vest, a dark brown belt with a gold metal buckle and a short black faux leather scabbard attached, white satin shirt, black pants and black boots with a worn look on top. In the scabbard is a gold sword. He appears to have the standard Prince body, with articulation at the neck, shoulders, hinge jointed elbows, ball jointed hips, and internal knee joints with limited movement. His hands and feet are huge, but his head is disproportionately small compared to Snow White. His face has a neutral expression, with small, narrow deep blue eyes, wide mouth and a straight nose. His molded dark brown hair looks okay. His face doesn't look that movie accurate to me; I actually prefer the playline Classic Prince. As with all Disney Prince dolls, he is sturdily built, and can free stand fairly stably. But for safe keeping, it is best to put him up in the included doll stand, which has a wide C-clamp that goes around his waist very snuggly.

During the deboxing I make the surprising discovery that Snow White has the body of a 2012 Disney Store Classic Princess doll. That is, she has hard plastic legs, with hinged knee joints and ball jointed ankles. She is also wearing golden tan flat shoes (or slippers), rather than the polished golden high heels that I was expecting. Also notice that the underskirt isn't a petticoat, but rather a slip. The slip was sewn to the outer golden skirt in two places, but it would be easy to snip those threads off. The Prince's cape was deep red velvet over a deep red satin lining, with gold piping. The feel of the cape is very nice, but not as luxurious as the 17'' LE Snow White's cape.

Deboxing the Ivory Snow White Designer Fairytale Doll Set. The cardboard sleeve and acrylic enclosure have been removed. The dolls are still attached to the cardboard backing, plastic spacers and base by wires, plastic tabs and rubber bands. They are also supported by the built in doll stands. Next the backing has been opened up, and the tabs and wires loosened so the spacers and dolls can be removed from the backing. They are still attached to the large spacer. The rear portion of the backing is then cut off from the base, leaving the bottom portion of the backing between the base and the dolls. The spacer is then removed from the dolls, and then the wires attaching them to the doll stands.

First look at the Ivory Snow White Doll Set (Snow White and the Prince), a Limited Edition of only 600 sets worldwide. Part of the Disney Fairytale Designer Collection. A 2013 D23 Expo Exclusive, produced by the Disney Store. My doll set is #114 of 600. Purchased August 9, 2013. Snow White is 11.5'' H, the Prince is 12'' H. They are in a display case with built in doll stands, clear acrylic cover, golden base and nameplate and richly decorated protective cardboard sleeve. The set comes with a gift bag decorated with artwork of all five Prince and Princess couples in the Disney Fairytale Designer Collection.

From the box notes:

With lips as red as the rose and skin as white as snow, this Princess is certainly the fairest of them all. Whether singing in a cottage or dancing at the Royal Ball, Snow White proves true beauty always from within.

Tonight she is a vision to behold in a shimmering satin gown richly embroidered with gold. And upon love's first kiss from her Prince, all of her dreams come true!

Romantic side-swept hair and dramatic lace collar frame her face. Elaborately embroidered bodice. Layered gown is ornately decorated with golden gemstones and lace detail. Embroidered foliage design adds enchanting effect.

Luxurious cape and costuming befit our Prince handsomely. Puffed sleeves, belt buckle, boots and sword add the finishing touches.

Pin Up's (Delta Calendar 1998) August

Ela (graphic designer) She also studied at Warsaw Fine Arts academy but we never meet there - I catch her one confusing day in the bus. The Tiger Rug behind her was property of a 16years old neighbor to whom my ex girlfriend Henrietta was giving English lessons. That was present from some sailor to her Mom. This is actually the very first Pin Up I take.

Alnwick Garden is a complex of formal gardens adjacent to Alnwick Castle in the town of Alnwick, Northumberland, England. The gardens have a long history under the dukes of Northumberland, but fell into disrepair until revived at the turn of the 21st century. The garden now features various themed plantings designed around a central water cascade. The revival of the gardens led to several public disputes between the Duchess of Northumberland and various garden experts concerning preservation and the use of public funds. The garden now belongs to a charitable trust, which is separate from Northumberland Estates, although the 12th Duke of Northumberland donated the 42-acre (17 ha) site and contributed £9 million towards redevelopment costs.

History

The first garden was laid down in 1750 by the 1st Duke of Northumberland, who employed Capability Brown, the celebrated Northumberland gardener, to landscape the parkland adjoining Alnwick Museum.

The 3rd Duke was a plant collector, and led a century of development at Alnwick – he brought seeds from over the world, and pineapples were raised in hothouses. In the middle of the 19th century, the 4th Duke created an Italianate garden featuring a large conservatory, and at the end of the century, the gardens were at their grandest, with yew topiary, avenues of limes and acres of flowers.

During the Second World War's "Dig for Victory" campaign, the garden was turned over and provided food, and soon afterwards the austerity of the 20th century saw the garden fall into disrepair. It was closed as a working garden in 1950.

Redevelopment

Redevelopment of the garden was instigated by Jane Percy, Duchess of Northumberland in 1997, and has been led by Belgian landscape designers Jacques and Peter Wirtz. It is the most ambitious new garden created in the United Kingdom since the Second World War, with a reported total development cost of £42 million.

The first phase of redevelopment, opened in October 2001, involved the creation of the cascade and initial planting of the gardens. On 22 December 2004 a large 6,000 sq ft (560 m2) tree house complex, including a cafe, was opened. A pavilion and visitor centre designed by Sir Michael Hopkins and Buro Happold opened in May 2006, with capacity for 1,000 people. The pavilion and visitor centre feature a barrel-vaulted gridshell roof. The gardens include several water features as well as architectural landscaping, topiary and decorative gates.

Poison Garden

A garden featuring intoxicating and poisonous plants was added in February 2005. The garden was thought of by the duchess herself, who wanted the garden to have something that was different from other gardens. Species of the Poison Garden include Strychnos nux-vomica (source of strychnine), hemlock, Ricinus communis (source of harmless castor oil but also deadly ricin), foxglove, Atropa belladonna (commonly called Deadly Nightshade), Brugmansia and Laburnum. The mission of the Poison Garden also includes drug education, with featured plantings of cannabis, coca and the opium poppy Papaver somniferum. The Poison Garden is now one of the main reasons that people visit the gardens.

Meena Bazaar - Net saree with Parsi Embroidery

There was more than a hundred people waiting outside the Disney Store this morning. Fortunately most of them were after the Mickey merchandise, and I got picked in the raffle for Jasmine. Several collectors that I knew were also there, but none of them got picked. I selected the first doll that was handed to me at the register, since she looked perfect. I didn't bring my camera, so no photos from the release. She is #425 of 4000. I show her boxed, and with the inner box taken out and the front viewing window taken off. She is very beautiful and my second most favorite doll from the series. She is first one that I managed to get from the store raffle, so I could take her home on release day. I will debox her tomorrow.
