A list of things that keep us grounded.
Most designers have their own list - but we had to jot ours down for a book - so here they are:
Don't believe your own hype.
Have a goal [or many].
Try some things with no end result.
Be aware.
Talk to other designers.
Talk to people other than designers.
Make mistakes.
Technology is no excuse.
Keep learning.
Be true to what you believe in.
Be humble.
Work hard.
Don't think about it - do it.
Don't talk about it - do it.
Teach.
Be selfish.
Share.
Have fun.
Forget everything you know and start again.
Our approach has always been one that embraces collaboration as a fundamental part of what we do.
Over the last ten years we have worked with highly talented individuals, teams and companies from all over the world that help bring our vision to life.
Join the Dots is a celebration of the spirit of collaboration.
A simple idea. A consistent frame for a multitude of work. A single dot, each representing one collaborator, each a connection to another.
Each collaborator is given a template of a dot in a fixed position on an A2 portrait poster. Each interpreted this in their own way.
These are the first 25. There will be 100 in total and be collated into a book and exhibition.
Thanks to all that have contributed so far and for those that are still to come.
Girl in Limbo, directed by Marie Elisa Schiedt, is the winner of the first round of the competition.
We shot our US project on a digital camera so that meant the media was also digital. We ended up carrying 4 x large hard drives across the states. These trusty Yellow Pelican cases helped the drives weather the storm of naked girls, clubs, booze and occasional shooting. The only downside was taking them through US customs as the 4 x yellow cases looked a little too much like a Die Hard villains travel luggage.
