We had an idea to shoot a Jackass style promo in miniature. No project to assign it too but we did think it would be suitable for our MTV2 work a couple of years ago.
BOKA Powell was initially commissioned to conduct an in-depth business analysis and prepare the building program for new apartment housing at the University of Texas at El Paso, and was subsequently selected to deliver the project as a part of a Design-Build team. The building program was intended to give the selected design team a “workbook” that would provide guidelines for creating new architecture that conforms to the greater campus fabric.
The ancient design concepts of Bhutanese architecture that provided the inspiration for the University of Texas at El Paso campus inspired the BOKA Powell design team in creating a housing precinct that fosters a sense of community, security and identity. The “fortress” housing blocks are sited in a way that minimizes disturbance to the terrain, while creating a series of focused courtyards and quiet space for the inhabitants. Adherence to modern accessibility standards was juxtaposed with the need to reflect the fortress nature of the historic model. Ramping and stairways are carefully integrated as recessive features of the building massing.

Items used include a blank tag book, distress ink, collage papers from HG by Paper Relics and The Queen's Dresser Drawers, brass charms, fibers, French book pages, tiny flowers, and pages from Vogue, 1947.

The quirky people at NetGifts (NetFlorist’s new gifting site) got together with the creative geniuses from the contemporary Design Team to bring South Africans gift boxes that look as exciting on the outside as the gift that is within.
When choosing the designs we wanted to select something that reflected Design Team’s signature style and was synonymous with South Africa. We decided to stick with the black and white theme that people have come to love and expect from NetFlorist. The new range of packaging is a fresh take that’s totally on trend.
“Icons of Africa” is a very simple repeat design showing several South African icons such as proteas and potjie pots.
A quick stopover to give a talk at FMX08. Not strictly our area - lots of 3D/Post/effects specialists - we had a good time. The event was held at Haus der Wirtschaft, a grand setting for heavy duty tech talk.
