Derived from a design by Sir Nigel Gresley and built at Gorton works between 1952 and 1953, the Class 76s were used on the now closed Woodhead route between Manchester and Sheffield. Originally classed EM1, 26020 (later 76020) was displayed at the Festival of Britian and hauled the first train through the Woodhead tunnel.

Some photos from our recent trip down to Cheltenham Design Festival.

The Festival celebrates how original thought can change the world; back for it’s second year from 11-14 April 2013, the event brings creative thinkers together from many fields to debate and explore the future of design at a time when creativity matters more than ever.

This annual festival covers all design disciplines and gives you the opportunity to engage with key thinkers in UK’s creative community, innovators who influence our lives through original thought in areas such as education, engineering, business, technology, wellbeing and architecture. The Cheltenham Design Festival shows the importance of creative thinking is not only in our daily lives but also in assuring all our futures.

MCHL is a shop full of innovative, independent design. The collection is based on the work of Dutch designer Michiel Cornelissen, who has worked with such companies as Philips and Ultimaker, and whose work is available from the MoMA in New York, the Tate Modern in London and the centre Pompidou in Paris.

MCHL might just be the first independent design shop in the world where the majority of the collection is 3d-printed.

Beautifully designed toilet with texts in the bus station of Paraty.

Unfortunately, when I came back the next year, they had painted everything over.

Nothing special here. These aren't too hard to find. Still, this package is exceptionally well designed.
