Southern Brown Bandicoot - Elephant Rocks

It was a brief stop as we only had one day in Copenhagen during this trip Denmark but the Bjarke Ingels Group collaboration Superkilen Park is definitely somewhere I'd like to go to back too as there seemed plenty of photographic opportunities.

From Wikipedia : "Stretching some 750 metres (2,460 ft) along either side of a public cycle track and covering a total area of some 30,000 square metres (320,000 sq ft), Superkilen is made up of three main areas: a red square, a black market and a green park. While the red square, painted bright red, orange and pink, focuses on recreation and modern living, the black market at the centre is the classic square with a fountain where neighbours can meet, with its barbecue grills and palm trees from China. The green park, literally entirely green, has rolling hills, trees and plants suitable for picnics, sports and walking the dog.

Many of the objects in the park have been specially imported or copied from foreign designs. They include swings from Iraq, benches from Brazil, a fountain from Morocco and litter bins from England. There are neon signs from throughout the world advertising everything from a Russian hotel to a Chinese beauty parlour. Even the manhole covers come from Zanzibar, Gdansk and Paris. In all, there are 108 plants and artefacts illustrating the ethnic diversity of the local population"

It´s been a while ago. On a cold and windy december day on the danish baltic coast I walked around with a couple of friends, when I found this lightbulb. I put it in upright position and wanted to take the photo of a deserted beach (something like "the day after") But I waited for my friends to leave the frame. After a while I just took the picture and did not care anymore - it was just too cold to wait much longer. I guess it has come out even better with the people in the background.

This was done with a small and cheap film camera, no postproduction.

I have just been in Denmark for a couple of weeks for biking. A wonderful trip, and usually Denmark is flat, but here in northern Jylland I saw this landscape.

Queen Alexandra was the Danish/German wife of King Edward VII and mother of George V. She was beloved beyond her husband and so well regarded publicly that many roads bear her name and Alexandra Palace was named after her. Following her death in 1925, this memorial to her was unveiled in 1932 opposite St James's Palace which reflects her love for children but has a distinctly melancholy gothic air even when picked out by the late afternoon sunshine.

Råbjerg Mile, Denmark.

Råbjerg Mile is a migrating coastal dune between Skagen and Frederikshavn, Denmark. It is the largest moving dune in Northern Europe with an area of around 1 km² and a height of about 40 m. The dunes contain a total of 4 million m³ of sand. The wind moves it in a north-easterly direction up to 18 m every year.

For their 1965 summer holiday my Dad and his parents went to Denmark...

There are places with nothing special about them... but they can take to special moments.

Ry is a small town in Denmark's "lake district". By the lake there are small piers where people bath, where boats hang. When sunsets, it gets magical.

In Ry there's a pier with nothing special about it.

Børsen also known as Børsbygningen (the stock exchange building), is a 17th-century stock exchange in the center of Copenhagen. The historic building sits next to Christiansborg Palace, the seat of the Danish Parliament, on the island of Slotsholmen. Børsen, a popular tourist attraction, is most noted for its distinctive spire, shaped as the tails of four dragons twined together, reaching a height of 56 metres.

Built under the reign of Christian IV in 1619–1640, the building is considered a leading example of the Dutch Renaissance style in Denmark. It is a protected building for conservation purposes.[1]A walking and canal boat tour of Copenhagen, Denmark 29 & 30 August 2018.
