Bang on time (pun intended), the structure topples to the ground at a few seconds past 1100, with a pylon right in the midst of the clouds of dust. The sound of the implosion reached Southend Pier a few seconds later. And, with that, this 801 feet (244 metre) tall landmark was gone forever.
