This is the iconic Delicate Arch in Arches National Park, in Utah, USA. I had wanted to try my hand at this for a while, but the site had become so popular that I had major reservations about competing with others over "territory" for filming. Fellow photographer Eric Gail and I made the hike and found 20-25 people there including 2 people who said they were from the BBC making a time lapse. Two of the parities did indeed get into a hostile shouting match and the location "heated up". After everyone calmed down we were able to take turns and everything worked out just fine. Thanks to everyone there for such good co-operation. We did set up this lighting scheme which most found acceptable. A few people preferred the blue light of LEDs, and they had their turn. The time lapse people just filmed it all. There is smoke near the horizon from the fires in California. This obscures the stars near the horizon. You can see a layer of smoke above the light pollution.

The trail to see the Delicate Arch up close and personal is 3 miles (4.8 km) roundtrip and climbs 480 feet (146m).

This is a cool arch, but I am posting it because I have never seen it without a lot of people under and around it. Someone must have taken charge and lined everyone up to take turns with photos under the arch. Everyone stood in line and waited their turn, it was all rather astonishing. There was even a chance to get a few shots with no one in the photo. That's not to say there was complete order all around, there were lots of people backing down the hill taking the usual multitude of selfies in front of everyone, and a toddler went running down the hill towards the cliff face before the dad noticed and yelled, but it was a lot more orderly under the arch than I have ever seen before.

Delicate Arch is the most iconic sandstone arch in the Arches National Park and it requires medium difficulty and 3 miles hiking both ways. It’s challenging and intimidating at some slopes where these photos were taken but visitors were undaunted and really enjoyed the breathtaking views. But unfortunately, the day after we visited, on 11/29/2019, two tourists from California fell to their death near this site. Do make sure the weather be favorable before you take up the hike and exercise your highest level of caution when you go. A pair of hiking shoes with proper gripping on rock is a must. Do not attempt to hike up there with regular sneaker, never!

Un lugar alucinante, en el que vivi uno de los mejores momentos de mi vida junto a mi familia: por la ruta, el entorno, lo que sentimos y compartimos, el atardecer que nos hizo, y el cielo tan increíble que hay en este lugar. Para que os hagáis una idea está disparada a ISO 8000 f2.8 30s con 5d Mark IV y el 16-35 III de Canon España.

Es solo una fotografia, no como lo que se ve de este sitio que se suelen juntar dos fotos, por la tremenda oscuridad que existe.

Y esta se la quiero dedicar a una de las personas mas especiales que he conocido, de una amistad inquebrantable, siempre dispuesto a ayudar no solo a mi, si no a cualquiera de sus amigos. Si habría que poner una foto a lo que es la amistad, creo que la suya debería aparecer debajo de la definición. Y los que tienen la suerte de conocerle estarán de acuerdo conmigo...y que lo pongan en los comentarios ;).

This is one of the roses from our garden it is a climbing variety known as "Blush Noisette" and it is absolutely covered in these gorgeous flowers that vary from white to this delicate pink and in some cases have both. It has such a lovely fragrance as well and there must currently be a hundred buds on this small bush.

This was a happy accident. We had planned to stay well after dark and take photos of Delicate Arch illuminated by the light of the full moon (you can see those further back in my Photostream). What we hadn't planned for was the moon to light up exactly under the arch as we approached it and of the exposure to be workable. We saw the seen and quickly scrambled to get ourselves setup to shoot some images. In my haste to start shooting ended up with several blurry images. I am glad this one came out sharp. I chose to leave the people in the image to give scale to just how big Delicate Arch really is.

Last night was the first hard freeze in NE Oklahoma, so went to a low area near water and found the plants that create Ice Ribbons, this is natures delicate art, in a few more minutes they will be gone with sun out and temperatures rising. Light Falls Late on Delicate Arch

A break from the green and the birds for something a little softer and a little lighter.

We only get to enjoy the blossoms on the trees for a short time before the leaves and fruit overtake, so it's good to step back and enjoy the softer tones of spring before the vibrancy of summer comes on completely.

This most iconic of Arches' National Park's natural bridges and perhaps one of the most famous geologic features in the world is beleaguered by photographers at sunset, so one does not necessarily get to capture it at the very best angle. But I was so happy to catch the last sunrays on the freestanding arch after virtually running up the hills leading to it. For 45 minutes, you have no idea where it might be, as it is hidden in a bowl at the top of one of the park’s famous sandstone fins. The partly rugged and steep path and the slickrock you are walking on requires shoes with a good grip, particularly on the way down, as you are losing the light fast...

Great experience!
