The delicate things in our lives. The beauty in our world and in our galaxy is always in a delicate balance. Hiking to Delicate Arch at 2 in the morning with four good friends and shooting the Milky way over Delicate arch. A night that will never be forgotten. Thanks guys.
So cold this morning that any water droplets on the grass had frozen. Strange to see actual frozen droplets amongst the delicate ice crystals of the hard frost.

Wanted to share another image from the musical instrument macro photography class that I recently attended. It's back to the violin again, which turned out to be my favorite subject of the afternoon.
I've always had an affinity for string instruments, especially after playing the cello for a number of years -- admittedly that was a quite a long time ago. Still have an appreciation for their sounds though, even all these years later.

This one had only begun to open when I got it. Now it's fully open and looks so delicate and such a pale Yellow.
Delicate Arch is featured on the Utah state licence plates.
I returned home yesterday from my first trip to the USA southwest. I especially enjoyed hiking and sightseeing in Arches National Park in Utah. The most difficult thing about getting this photograph was finding a break in the steady parade of people taking selfies inside the arch, but finally it was clear of people for a few moments!!

This hoverfly always landed on flowers or leaves that were too high up and flew as soon as the camera got anywhere close. I had to just lift my camera in the air and press tho take the photo because this one was that high up. Luckily, these shots didn't turn out so bad to say I couldn't see what I was taking. There are loads of different species of hoverfly in our garden. I just wish they were easier to photograph!

The columbine flower is a very interesting perennial wildflower with an intriguing history. This is a hardy perennial that is happy to bloom in part shade or in a woodland or mixed border garden. Some varieties thrive in full sun. Many columbines are on the smaller side and are delicate looking. But, if you happen to live in southwestern united states, try planting golden columbine which grows to 3 feet tall with each flower a rich yellow, including the stamens and a generous 3 inches across. It is listed as a. chrysantha at garden centers.
