After narrowly escaping COBRA's lair, GI Geof and Mandarin Morgan had to take a brief break to recover from their injuries due to the massive explosion. JOES gave both of our heroes new bionic prosthesis which they were told had a special kind of titanium that would deflect heat and bullets.
Geof and Morgan arrived at a village where they were informed that COBRA's main supplier, a slick and sleazy dude named BIN had offices.
"I know he is around here somewhere, Morgan" said a confident Geof
Morgan looked around the narrow street ahead, "I hope so. After we kick his ass, I am hungry. We should eat"
"What are your plans after our mission is complete?" Geof asked.
Morgan, caught off guard by such an question coming from Geof especially in a critical moment in their mission, "HUH?" "What an odd question?"
"Well?"
"On to another mission. Maybe to finally kick your ass" said a snarky Morgan
Geof gave off that handsome smirk that always melts Morgan's cold heart

How is that possible? How could Franz possibly be having visions wandering from chair to chair finding the best shooting position? Well, actually I thought I was suffering from hallucinations and initially thought that activities from a long ago forgotten time had finally caught up with me. Kind of like flashbacks of some kind except these were hallucinatory images that I’d never seen before. Schizophrenia jumped to mind and this is where the internet is so helpful in self-diagnosis. I know that hearing things play a big role in this illness. Do I hear things as well? Well, actually, I hear things all the time, mostly consisting of a buzzing sound in my ears that drowns out any real noises and sounds that I am subjected to. (Strangely enough, my wife’s voice is one of those sounds that get drowned out by this). Am I complaining, no, not at all. She is, though! Back to the hallucinations, I also considered dementia and then I see that in the psychiatric world schizophrenia is called “dementia praecox”. Cool, I am on the right track. No medical degree required here.
So, by now you are wondering what the heck is he going on about? Simple, for the last couple of days I thought I saw this bird that looked suspiciously like a Downy but was slightly larger and wayyy more brown. Well, just to keep my sanity, I attributed this to the weather; it had been raining some and I figured this is just a wet Downy and the light and rain are playing tricks with my sight. Way better plan than going out and committing yourself, never to be heard or seen again. Cheaper too. Deflecting and ignoring. Only problem is that may work once or twice but when you keep seeing the same vision over and over again, even in better lighting conditions, then the astute mind (I am not saying that this would necessarily apply to me) does face a bit of a quandary. But instead of going to the hospital or pharmacy to ask for some mind numbing drugs, I decided to resort to liquor and the camera. The thought here was, I would take a picture of this hallucination and then carefully examine what would take my mind astray like this. Well that explains the camera part, the liquor was just to enable me to face the unknown. You know, kind of like they used to do before sending soldiers off to battle. Or do they still do that? Also along the lines of only fools rush in where wise men never go.
And lo and behold, this brilliant decision resulted in what we are seeing here today. I was not insane after all. Well, that conclusion may not be completely warranted but it helped tremendously in letting me settle back down to my usual happy-go-lucky-if-it-don’t-work-today-it-may-tomorrow approach to life.
Without further ado, this is the juvie Yellow-bellied Sapsucker which caused all this grief. Obviously a new bird to the yard, camera, lens and me.

After a day of hard work I took Sera Yosta, my most beautiful lens and my Elinchrom light outside to the streets of Amsterdam, just to see what light can do. The temperature was quite high here in The Netherlands, 14 degrees Celcius in mid-december! So, the perfect moment to make some simple clicks.
As light I used the ELB400 & Elinchrom Deep Octa with translucent deflector and inner diffuser.

Profile
Name: Mason Jerrold
Villain's name: Dunewire
Age: 27
Bio: Mason was born in Pennsylvania. When he was young he was often unstable, and had been a test subject since 16, taken by the will of his own parents who agreed that he was uncontrollable. However Isaiah Harrington offered to rescue him and control his situation if he would work for him, providing the resources to Mason, who hesitatingly accepted the offer. He works as a occasional bodyguard for Harrington and is the second chief of security at Harrington Powers after Isaiah had rebranded and restructured his company.
Powers and abilities: Mason has two powers on both arms. The blue arm allows him to generate wires, and effectively create whips and strings, allowing him to dispatch and choke enemies. The other arm allows him to control sand, manipulate sandstorms, turning into a sand giant, reassemble into sand and generate constructs etc. Carries a gun in his civilian form.
Weaknesses: Only able to use one arm's power and the other arm is usually weaker. Not very well in deflecting melee users, so he gets punched by stronger opponents. Sand can be overwhelmed by elemental powers and sometimes energy. Due to his unstable nature and his powers might unintentionally destroy technology, he has to be kept in check.
Equipment: Test suit refined by Isaiah Harrington's company. Wears a white headband.
Personality: Uncalm, defensive, dauntless, cynical towards enemies. Superficial, brave, willing to take risks.
FAST LINE FLYER
LNER A3 60103 'Flying Scotsman' races through Atherstone on the Up Fast with the 5V44 10:10 Carnforth Steamtown to SOUTHALL WCR ECS move on 18th May 2021. With 'Flying Scotsman' running close to its 75mph speed limit it is evident that the 'German type' trough smoke deflectors work very effectively. Class 47 47746 'Chris Fudge' is on the rear of the train.
Designed by Ventral Shipyards and put into service by Kellfarie Securities Bureau in the late 23rd century. It came outfitted with a quad plasma cannon array, dorsal turret, and enhanced rear deflectors.
Thanks to its extreme speed, small size, and powerful punch, it earned the moniker "Hades Express" by its victims as its lightning speed allowed the craft to blast in unseen, delivering all life in its path to the underworld.

DRB Class 52 2-10-0 No. 56507 built by Henschel in 1943, nicely turned out but with one bent deflector, leaving Ortaklar with the 08.11 Denizli - Izmir. 6 March 1977.
Seeing snow at major London termini has always been a bit of a novelty and sure enough by the afternoon it had largely melted in the winter sun. Note the missing right hand light cluster cover - a fairly common sight at the time and as yet no exhaust deflector.
The Deutsche Reichsbahn-Gesellschaft's BR 01 steam locomotives were the first standardised (Einheitsdampflokomotive) steam express passenger locomotives built by the unified German railway system. They were of 4-6-2 "Pacific" wheel arrangement in the Whyte notation, or 2′C1′ h2 in the UIC classification. The idea of standardisation was that it would reduce maintenance costs; i.e. if a BR 01 whose engine shop was in, say, Berlin broke down in Dresden, instead of having to ship the necessary part from Berlin and take the locomotive out of service, a part from the Dresden shop could be used as all of the engines, parts, and workings were exactly the same and produced nationwide. Thus it was a "standard" product for engine shops.
The firms of AEG and Borsig, who were the main manufacturers of these engines, together with Henschel, Hohenzollern, Krupp and BMAG previously Schwartzkopff, delivered a total of 231 examples of this Einheitsdampflokomotive between 1926 and 1938 for the fast passenger services of the Deutsche Reichsbahn.
To begin with, 10 locomotives of this class were built with two-cylinder engines for comparison purposes alongside a similar batch of 10 engines of their sister Class 02, which had four-cylinder compounding. Extensive measurement and trial runs were conducted, but after lengthy discussions the controversial decision finally fell in favour of the two-cylinder configuration, which was simpler to maintain but less powerful and less economical than the four-cylinder compounds.
The first Class 01 locomotive that went into service was not 01 001, but 01 008, which is preserved today in the Bochum-Dahlhausen Railway Museum. The mass production of Class 01s was somewhat delayed at first because in the 1920s there were neither enough routes with the necessary axle load of 20 tons nor sufficiently large turntables. Not until the beginning of the 1930s did the Class 01 become the predominant express train locomotive of the Deutsche Reichsbahn. By 1938 there were 231 Class 01 locomotives available for the prestigious express train duties. Another 10 four-cylinder Class 02 locomotives (01 111, 01 233–241) were converted to two-cylinder Class 01 models between 1937 to 1942. To accommodate for the many routes with axle load restrictions too low for Class 01 service, in the early 1930s, a third variant was created: the Class 03 designed with a two-cylinder engine and axle load of 18 ton, of which no less than 298 were built. Launched in 1939, the three-cylinder DRG Class 01.10 was a further development of the 01.
A total of five series or batches were delivered, each with minor variations: 01 001–010 (1926), 01 112–076 (1927–28), 01 077–101 (1930–31), 01 102–190 (1934–1936), 01 191–232 (1937–1938).
Even in the 1930s the employment of Class 01s was limited to the relatively few routes that had already been modified to take a 20 ton axle load. From Berlin outwards they were the Anhalt, Lehrte and Hamburg lines. The Berlin City Railway had first to be strengthened by reinforcing the viaduct arches. Up to 1930, the first 90 engines were stationed at the locomotive depots of Essen, Nuremberg, Erfurt P, Berlin Ahb, Hamm, Magdeburg Hbf, Kassel, Hanover, Hamburg Altona, Bebra and Offenburg. From 1931 they were also stabled at Frankfurt (M) 1, Berlin Leb, Braunschweig, Berlin Pog, Schneidemühl, Königsberg, Göttingen P, Paderborn, Dresden Alt, Breslau, Cologne Deutzerfeld, Hof and Halle P.
Originally, the Class 01's top speed was restricted to 120 km/h. In order to raise this to 130 km/h, the diameter of the leading wheels was changed from its original 850 mm to 1,000 mm on locomotives from operating number 01 102 onwards and brake effort was increased by installing double-sided working of the brake shoes on the coupled wheels and by braking the trailing wheels. The air and feed pumps were located in smokebox recesses behind the large Wagner smoke deflectors, which had been fitted from 01 077 onwards. (Earlier models were also refitted with Wagner type deflectors later). This made access to the pumps for maintenance purposes more difficult and later Einheitsloks had their pumps located in the middle of the vehicle on delivery. The Deutsche Bundesbahn converted their engines to the smaller Witte smoke deflectors and moved the pumps to the running board in the centre of the vehicle. The Deutsche Reichsbahn in East Germany shied away from such major changes to the load distribution, so that only minor modifications in appearance can be seen even in their last years.
From the third series (01 077 et seq.) the boilers were delivered with longer smoke tubes and thus a shorter firebox. All engines originally had a central lock for the smokebox door. The first locomotives had gas lighting on delivery; from 01 010 they had electrical lighting and the last few batches were given a third headlight.
The Class 01s were equipped with 2'2 T 30, 2'2' T 32 or 2'2' T 34 tenders. Their coal capacity was 10 tons of stone coal, and the water tank held either 30, 32 or 34 cubic metres of water. The prototype locomotives, 01 001 to 01 010, were supplied with the smaller 2'2 T 30 tenders, because there were not enough large turntables around. Later these tenders were only used if they were absolutely necessary, e.g. in cross-border services with the Netherlands. From the second series (01 012 et seq.) on, the Class 01 was furnished with rivetted 2'2' T 32 tenders. The welded tenders, class 2'2' T 34, appeared only by way of exchange (mainly from brand new Class 44) locomotives. Thereafter they were almost the only ones used during the war years and after the Second World War, because they had a larger water capacity.
Class 01 locomotives remained in service with the Deutsche Bundesbahn until 1973. In the DR, they were still working up to the early 1980s, largely in their original state with large smoke deflectors. They were legendary in their last years for hauling the D-Zug services on the Berlin-Dresden route up to autumn 1977. Only when the large Soviet DR Class 132 diesel locomotives arrived, the Class 01 express train locomotives were finally forced out of scheduled services in the GDR after almost 50 years.

"We fall so that we can learn to pick ourselves up."
At least that's what my dad told me. My dad. God I miss him. He may not have been the best but he taught me everything that I know.
My eyes burned. I tried to hold in the tears but I couldn't. Tears streamed down my cheeks. I wiped them away. I promised my dad that I would be strong.
Everything that I have loved is gone. My mom was lost to drugs, my dad to crime. Then the one person who I loved more than both my mother and father, went missing. Dick Grayson. The tears returned. What happens if you fall to many times? What happens if you aren't strong enough to pick yourself up again?
I heard the click of a door.
Steph?
I wiped my tears again. I didn't want Kara to see me like this.
Yeah?
It took all of my might not to stutter.
I've got something to show you.
One second.
I hopped onto my motorcycle and took off with Kara riding behind me. She told me the directions. I sped down the streets making sharp turns, weaving in and out of passing cars. When we reached the GCPD I saw a figure clad in green and black.
Who are you!
The figure didn't reply.
I am gonna ask nicely one more time before this gets violent, who are you?
Still no reply. The figure reached behind its back and pulled out two katanas and ran towards me.
Kara look out!
I pushed Kara out of the way and we both just barely dodged the attack.
I saw that Kara was holding her arm, she was in pain. I looked closer, she was bleeding. This bitch cut Kara. I didn't think it was possible! Now I was more determined to beat the living crap out of this guy.
You want a fight? Come get one!
Kara unleashed a barrage of searing hot beams from her eyes. The figure barely dodged them. He threw some shurikens at me. I deflected most of them with my escrimas but two of them hit my shoulder. They penetrated my suit. Kara clutched her arm even harder. I felt a small explosion in my right shoulder. Once the smoke cleared the figure was gone. I pulled what was left of the shurikens out of my arm and slowly walked towards Kara.
It's okay champ, I'll get ya back home.
I pulled her body onto my motorcycle and rode home.
We fall so that we can learn to pick ourselves up,that is why I do what I do. That is why every night i wear this suit. That is why I'm Nightwing.
-------------------------------------------------
Special thanks to DuckBricks for letting me use Nightwing and Dick Grayson. I made the story a little bit longer than it was. I deleted the older one. hope you enjoyed!

Flying Scotsman in the North yard at the Nationial Railway Museum, York. My initial preference was the classic LNER apple green look, however the locomotive looks fantastic and I'm glad they've chosen to do this. Much better than LNER livery with the smoke deflectors on, that just looked all wrong.
DR Class '24' 2-6-0 No.24 083 with an apparent leaking cylinder gland, making the large Wagner-style smoke deflectors somewhat superfluous, passes the Eilensen sugar beet loading siding, between Markoldendorf and Dassel, heading a morning 'Owl Festival' special passenger service from Einbeck to Dassel on a misty 3rd October 1982. The seasonal beet traffic, destined for the Northeim factory, located midway between Einbeck and Göttingen, would have been lucrative business for the Ilmebahn private secondary railway. Rail wagons for loading can be seen in the siding beyond the passenger coaches, and road trailers have been deposited ready for the sugar beet to be loaded during the following day. This section of railway, losing its passenger services to road in 1975, was closed in 2002.

When I was young my father and I would pretend to be Batman and Robin, deflecting bullets and pulling the Joker's henchmen out of trees and from the tops of telephone poles along the route to and from my preschool in NJ. I have to thank my father for bringing me into the fold of a life full of Superheroes. The greatest part about Batman and Robin is... they don't have any super powers to speak of, just training, physical ability, wit, and intelligence. Any of us could be a Batman or a Robin. Since my childhood and to this day Dick Grayson has always been my favorite of the Robins. I hope you enjoy this fig of him as much as I did making it.
C & C always welcomed.

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again – because it’s true - the image quality, resolution & ‘richness’ of so many of these vintage black & white NASA photographs is exquisite. Bristol Flyers vs Manchester Giants, British Basketball League (BBL) game on Friday 23rd September 2022, at SGS WISE Arena, New Road, Stoke Gifford, Bristol, during the 2022-23 season.
About the photographs.
The British born Leslee Smith is the Flyers player in the navy blue jersey and shorts, attempting to score a point by jumping up and dunk the ball.
The Giants player in the white outfit attempting to the block the ball, could be the American born William Lee. For some reason, the Giants players names and the assigned shirt numbers is bit mixed up.
Lee did successfully deflect the ball, stopping it from going into the hoop, but Smith then catches it, and attempts to pass onto a team mate.
In the first half of the match, Flyers were behind by about 20 points, but in the second half, they made up for it. The final outcome at end of the game was
Flyers 79 – 78 Giants.
On this day, Bristol Flyers were the home team, while Manchester Giants was the visiting team. I bought two courtside tickets, for myself and my best friend.
About the teams.
The Bristol Flyers was formed in 2006 by a merger of two former Bristol based teams, the Filton Flyers and the Bristol Academy, to become known as Bristol Academy Flyers. They started in the English Basketball League, in Division 2, and one year later, they moved up to Division 1.
By 2013, they got financial backing from the owner of Bristol City football club. As part of the deal, they moved into the top level franchise based BBL, for the 2014-15 season, that was when they became known simply as Bristol Flyers. Their highest finish in BBL was 4th place during the 2021-22 season.
The current Manchester Giants, not to be confused with the original Manchester Giants from 1975 to 2001, was formed in 2011. Graham Herstell put together a plan for a new Manchester based basketball team, and revived the Giants brand.
The Giants started in the top level professional BBL with the 2012-13 season. As of from 2020 to present, they are based at the National Basketball Performance Centre, located in the Belle Vue area of Manchester, which they share with the Manchester Mystics, a women’s team in the WBBL.
