I photographed this as a slide a long long time ago...I actually don't know when. Anyway, I no longer know what word is being defined. If anyone knows please comment.

Chianti is a red Italian wine produced in Tuscany. The first definition of a wine-area called Chianti was made in 1716. The earliest documentation of a Chianti wine dates back to the thirteenth century when viticulture was known to flourish in the Chianti Mountains around Florence. Discover the most celebrated region of Tuscany. The vineyards of this area produce one of the best wines in the world: Chianti Classico. This Wine represents a major source of wealth for the Chianti area, no wonder then that this product has been particularly looked after and protected, in order to distinguish its quality from other wine productions. This is why a rigid legislation has been introduced to regulate the production of Classic Chianti. The first limit obviously regards the geographical area where the grape must grow. But not only the vineyards must be cultivated in the prescribed area: the whole process of wine-making, storage and bottling must take place inside the protected zone. The grape variety from which Chianti is produced is Sangiovese. The alcoholic strength must not exceed 12 %. In addition to this, there are other requirements that must be followed, regarding the average amount of dry product (24 g/l); the acidity rate (4,5 g/l), the colour (intense ruby red), the smell (fruity, with nuances of wildflowers, berries, cherries or plums) and taste (harmonious, dry, strong and with respectable tannin).

Zeg je wijn in Toscana, dan zeg je Chianti, een wijn die zich in de laatste 30 jaar tot Classico heeft ontwikkeld. Chianti is de bekendste en populairste van alle Italiaanse wijnen. De wijn wordt gemaakt van de alom aanwezige Sangiovese-druif, die graag veel zon heeft en goed bestand is tegen grote temperatuurschommelingen. De belangrijkste Chianti-zones worden gevormd door de streek Chianti Classico gelegen rond Castellina. Zoals met zoveel in Italia, is ook de wijnbouw begonnen in het zuiden, maar hebben de noorderlingen het later overgenomen. Na de Romeinse tijd kwam de zuidelijke wijnbouw in de versukkeling. De oudste ononderbroken wijntraditie. In de Renaissance kwam de productie weer helemaal terug en wel in...Toscana. Rijke handelaars en bankiers zoals de families Frescobaldi en Antinori namen druivenrassen mee uit Frankrijk en legden daarmee de basis voor het feit dat Toscana tegenwoordig de oudste onononderbroken wijntradities van Italië kent.

Photographs by definition capture a still image. An unchanging, isolated, moment frozen in time. But just because a photograph does not change does not mean it cannot show change. An effective photograph often brings a viewer outside the moment, leaving them to ask "what happens next?"
Sometimes it is obvious, like the silky falls of a tumbling cascade or a buzzer-beating basketball suspended in mid air. Other times it is more subtle, like this photograph here where one season changes into another. By pairing the ginkgo and maple tree together (which luckily happened to fit together like the pieces of a jigsaw puzzle), I tried to present a photograph you can "read" from left to right and see the change coming. Perhaps it prompts you to imagine the leaves falling off the ginkgo in the upcoming days.
One other note: I made this photograph after one of my friends told me he was hoping to see a gingko tree in the fall. Even though I am obsessed with scouting the local area for beautiful foliage, gingkos were admittedly not on my radar. After he said that, though, I started noticing them everywhere. It's funny how you can be totally blind to something until someone mentions it and then you see it everywhere.

The Church of the Holy Sepulchre (Arabic: كنيسة القيامة, Kaneesat al-Qeyaamah; Greek: Ναός της Αναστάσεως, Naos tes Anastaseos; Latin: Ecclesia Sancti Sepulchri; also called the Church of the Resurrection or Church of the Anastasis by Orthodox Christians) is a church in the Christian Quarter of the Old City of Jerusalem. The church contains, according to traditions dating back to at least the fourth century, the two holiest sites in Christianity: the site where Jesus of Nazareth was crucified, at a place known as "Calvary" or "Golgotha", and Jesus's empty tomb, where he is said to have been buried and resurrected. The tomb is enclosed by the 18th-century shrine, called the Aedicule (Edicule).
Within the church proper are the last four (or, by some definitions, five) Stations of the Via Dolorosa, representing the final episodes of Jesus' Passion. The church has been a major Christian pilgrimage destination since its creation in the fourth century, as the traditional site of the Resurrection of Christ, thus its original Greek name, Church of the Anastasis.
Today, the wider complex accumulated during the centuries around the Church of the Holy Sepulchre also serves as the headquarters of the Greek Orthodox Patriarch of Jerusalem, while control of the church itself is shared between several Christian denominations and secular entities in complicated arrangements essentially unchanged for over 160 years, and some for much longer. The main denominations sharing property over parts of the church are the Greek Orthodox, Armenian Orthodox and Roman Catholic, and to a lesser degree the Egyptian Copts, Syriacs and Ethiopians. Meanwhile, Protestants, including Anglicans, have no permanent presence in the Church. This is one of the famous market stalls that sets up on railway lines in Thailand. When a train is due to either arrive or depart, she must dismantle her stall and make way for the train. As soon as it passes, she will set up again.

CHRISTIAN DEDEENE, THE BALLET DANCER...
Still one of my favourite portraits.
He was for 5 years a solo and star dancer with one of the greatest choreographers of the last century, Maurice Béjart .
I was fortunate to have him in our studio a couple of times, and what an experience it was, each time.
After I'd seen him in action and done the 'dance photos', I asked him if he would pose for this portrait I had in my head.
I know how these people work out day after day, I admired the definition in the muscle-tones and tendons.
The result is what I had imagined, the proud profile, the wild hair, and THE DEFINITION.
I love dramatic lighting, especially for this kind of subject.
Thanks Christian, for being so patient and sharing my artistic vision.

When looking at the American bison the best description is simply "Massive". We observed two large males appear to resolve a territory dispute with a stare down. Eventually one decided the best decision was to move on. In the North Unit of Theodore Roosevelt National Park, North Dakota.
Serenade: A piece of music sung or played in the open air, typically by a man (in this case... men) at night... perhaps under a window of his lover.
I thought the definition kind of fit these two. They needed to be under a window though. :-)
The one on the right thrusted his wing out of my frame... overcome with passion I suppose.

If I mention that there's a Canon 50 mm lens I really like and let you guess which one, I think you probably won't think of this one first... or at all... ever. Because if there's one lens that fits the definition of forgotten ugly duckling among the impressive array of lenses Canon produced over the decades, it has to be this one.
The "Canon Lens E 50 mm F 3.5" is an enlarging lens unlike any other under that umbrella, at least in appearance. Inside it's a basic 4 elements in 3 groups design - and sometimes called a Tessar online - even though I'm not sure that definition still applies when the diaphragm is in a different place... you tell me!
The look is certainly very unique, mainly because of the transparent plastic ring on the front of the lens which consists of two elements, the outer one having aperture values on them, the inner one a marker. The latter one moves with the aperture ring, providing a way to read the aperture value in a darkroom.
Because I decided (in a genius moment) I would shoot this lens with a fast fixed aperture projection lens you can't see the whole thing, but I'll add a link to another simple shot in the comments.
All that aside, it's not considered a great lens, not even a good one and to my knowledge it never was. So I was pleasantly surprised when I tried it. I learned to never underestimage Tessars before and this is a very good one in my book. If you want, take a look at the album and let me know if you agree.
