Fictional narrative portraiture speaks to people in a way fashion or documentary photography can’t. It introduces characters and creates stories that don’t exist, allowing the viewer to fill in the blanks themselves. By including minimal context and providing no prompt with the images, they stand completely alone, and when viewed individually, beg for a story to be told.

In my series, I explore the field of cinematic portraiture and fabricate moments that might show a small piece of a larger untold narrative. I invite you fill in the blanks with your own version of the story.

This is the definition of a "Princess" according to "Webster's Dictionary." Is that what it means to me? Perhaps.... I know that I have said this word several times over the past 4 years because my love smiles every time she hears if come from my mouth. I sit here now wondering if she is really is a "princess' in her own right and I am reminded of item number 4 listed above. To me her standing is a "princess." Perhaps not over the world or the United States. Probably not even over the neighborhood.... But in this house her standing is exactly that. Not because that is her title, but because that is the way I feel about her. You see we search all over the world for the one thing that defines who we are as a person but we often overlook the things (people) that are right in front of us that make life such a tremendous joy.

You might be asking yourself if I idolize her in some way. The answer is absolutely "NO" but at the end of the day.... After all of the struggles that we face in life... We all want something to believe in. For that she is my princess. It comes as second nature because that is the way that she makes me feel.... No matter what happens, she stands by my side as as a queen does for her king. So I guess that while we are still not married, she will remain my princess. But I look forward to July 2013 when she becomes my Queen.... And I become her King.

You are my inspiration to get up in the mornings and enjoy life even it means another day of work before I get to see you. I look forward to the nights when I can come home and hold you in my arms and whisper "Hello Princess" into your ear. Besos Mi Amor.

For 2015 MTV RE:DEFINE returned to its original home at the Goss-Michael Foundation in Dallas.
