Richmond Park has a wonderful collection of gnarly trees with anthropomophic features. The features are not quite so well defined in this, but it makes up for it by its scale and he has a lovely white beard. A tree with a beard, Treebeard?

Wikipedia defines Cima (which is Spanish for "Summit") as a small unincorporated community in the Mojave Desert of San Bernardino County, California.
With a right of way bordered by hearty Joshua Trees, Union Pacific 6930 leads a hot trailer/container train through remote Cima, California.
"Think of all the beauty still left around you and be happy." - Anne Frank. There was a tree that she could catch a glimpse of from an attic window in the place where they were in hiding. She managed to find beauty while immersed in the depths of ugliness. This is a leaf from a huge Water Oak that is in our yard. It's not the same kind of tree as that which Anne viewed but I think she would still see the beauty.

"I AM THE FUTURE, DEFINE THE FUTURE... I was only thinking of human kindness... I am the future, define the future..."
I love New York! Just out and about looking to define normal.
BTW: The Unicordion plays beautifully!!! As seen in Central Park on the west side by The Lake.
Interesting, I do love SC and B&W processing but I really like the colors in this shot.

Thanks for your visit. HMM!!!
This collection began in 1952 and was remodelled in 1999. The garden includes rose species, hybrids and varieties commonly cultivated in the 18th, 19th and early 20th centuries. In 1979, the World Federation of Rose Societies adopted a simple classification for roses and Heritage roses are defined as those established before 1867.[11](Wikipedia)
"Our lives are defined by opportunities; even the ones we miss." - Eric Roth
While setting up this shot several people stopped to watch what I was doing which I guess is to be expected when doing toy photography in a crowded National Park. There was a time when that kind of attention made me anxious , feeling like I’m the weird guy taking pictures of toys in public. But now when I see someone watching, I’ll ask them, “You wanna see what the shot looks like?” They almost always say yes and so I show them the back of the camera. It has led to some great conversations and even a few new followers.
Unfortunately I was too focused on setting up the shot today and dealing with wind gusts that I didn’t interact as much with the people who were curious about what I was doing.
Perhaps being hyper focused on taking a photo about “missed opportunities” was a missed opportunity in and of itself.

I'm getting a lot of use out of my Sumac tree this year. My eyes are bug-eyed from all of the Macro I've been doing lately. Still more Fall shots to come, not enough time to process them all.
Have a Great Sunday Everyone
This is what i called "predicted focus" (keep focusing on the water, where the bird might landing), thanks to meetvasu for noticing!
So many times, I let myself feel overwhelmed, like the walls of my world are pushing in on me, and all I can do is cower, or deflect.
This shot reminds me that I define my own world, as much as it defines me...and this shot aligns me in the direction of what is most important...

A fisherman returns to the Milang Jetty, Souh Australia.
A Pod of pelicans, also gathered like peas in a pod, wait with expectations of a tasty treat from the fisherman.
What can a pencil do for all of us? Amazing things. It can write transcendent poetry, uplifting music, or life-changing equations; it can sketch the future, give life to untold beauty, and communicate the full-force of our love and aspirations.

If I were to ever be asked to define a perfect day in a single photograph, this may very well be the photograph I would submit. Absolutely breathtaking view atop Redwall as Long Beach and the wide open Pacific Ocean gleam in the evening light.
We climbed the NW Ridge, a wonderful but rarely climbed island classic in a surreal setting. It was an intense 23 hour, alpine style, day-trip from Victoria. We both had to work the next morning, but the weather was too good to pass up the opportunity. The reward, an astonishing climb and the best views on the island.

Macro Mondays Week34 - Defining beauty
Look into nature and you will find as much beauty as you want.
Layers of an old brick building seem to be crumbling away in Charleston South Carolina. Charleston, the port city founded in 1670, is defined by its cobblestone streets, horse-drawn carriages and pastel antebellum houses, particularly in the elegant French Quarter and Battery districts.
First time I’ve shot on Mauna Kea. I question why I haven’t ever been up there to shoot. It blew every place out of the water for night shooting. The conditions were perfect as it had a crystal clear sky and a blanket of clouds just below.

I haven't posted a photo for Dictionary of Image for a while. I took this from my office window just before I refilled the feeder.
