Humans Find AI-Generated Faces More Trustworthy Than the Real Thing
A new study published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences USA provides a measure of how far the technology has progressed. The results suggest that real humans can easily fall for machine-generated faces—and even interpret them as more trustworthy than the genuine article. “We found that not only are synthetic faces highly realistic, they are deemed more trustworthy than real faces,” says study co-author Hany Farid, a professor at the University of California, Berkeley. The result raises concerns that “these faces could be highly effective when used for nefarious purposes.”
“We have indeed entered the world of dangerous deepfakes,” says Piotr Didyk, an associate professor at the University of Italian Switzerland in Lugano, who was not involved in the paper. The tools used to generate the study’s still images are already generally accessible. And although creating equally sophisticated video is more challenging, tools for it will probably soon be within general reach, Didyk contends.

The most famous image is Saint George (Yuri), who defeated the devil.
In Ukrainian tradition, Saint George was the patron saint of Rus', Kyiv region, Galicia, Volodymyr, Lviv, Kyiv region, Bila Tserkva, the Cossacks, the Ukrainian army, etc. One of the largest Ukrainian churches, the Cathedral of Saint George in Lviv, is named in honor of the saint. The feast day is April 23 (May 6 according to the Gregorian calendar).

I don't know how much more I can take
'Cause I'm gonna need more than sunlight at getting in shape
Weed makes me panic and Lexapro drives me insane
Tell me, how do you do what you love when you're sick in the brain?
And you're two thousand miles away
So why am I stalkin' your Twitter and lying awake?
I show my true colors, you left, and my life got so gray
I can't get over you, yet I build up so much hate
But despite all the lies and projections, I hope you're okay
°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°
Not surprisingly, artificial intelligence (AI) is also taking the sex industry by storm !
A trend that increasingly concerns experts...
Aside from the highly controversial generation of deepfakes, AI can be used in other ways in the realm of pornography. For example, the sex chatbot market is rapidly emerging, and it is experiencing dazzling success. According to analytics firm SplitMetrics, apps offering “AI companions” have already been downloaded more than 225 million times in the Google Play Store. If these devices can prove very lucrative for their publishers, they also raise many questions 🤔
The economic model of these applications is based on a well-oiled strategy: users pay a subscription to be able to communicate with the conversational agent. The developer collects a lot of data on customers, and can share it with third parties for targeted advertising!
But chatbots are only the tip of the iceberg!!!
Soon, the first cyber brothel will open its doors in Berlin!
Customers will have the opportunity to book an hour with an artificial intelligence-powered sex doll 😗
It’s not really my “my cup of tea” but you artists, what do you think ?🤔

_________________________________________PdF______
AI would be as potentially destructive as nuclear war, for some tech players!
“Reducing the risk of extinction from AI should be a global priority, along with societal risks like pandemics and nuclear war. »
This pithy sentence is the entire statement posted on the site of the Center for AI Safety, an organization whose goal is to reduce the risks posed to society by the development of AI.
Far from being the first of its kind, its originality is to be found among its signatories. There are the leaders of Open AI, the DeepMind division of Google, or even recognized researchers in the field.
Hopefully they find those responsible for all of this.
The probability that a serious, even cataclysmic event will be caused in the future by artificial intelligence is absolutely not science fiction. The risks, both considered (deepfakes, manipulation of elections, loss of control of weapon systems, etc.) and still unknown, are taken very seriously by researchers and other actors in the subject. To the point of developing the concept of P(doom), which symbolizes the probability estimated by everyone that AI will cause an extinction of humanity or another irreversible global catastrophe. Rare are those who place their P(doom) at less than 10%…
The OpenAI Lab, led by Sam Altman, was created in 2015 specifically to counter the abuses of "bad" AI, and was non-profit. This last point was quickly dropped from 2019.
As for the first… that remains to be seen !!!
Finally, it is perhaps worth remembering that, as he himself explained in an interview, Altman is a survivalist.
This means that he has already prepared (weapons and gas masks, among others) everything that will be necessary for his survival when the hour of the Apocalypse has come 😳
“Woe is man” digital: Photoshop and AI. Love it or loathe it, AI is here it stay. I see it both ways, there are definitely downsides to the technology. Some of the major dangers of AI include misinformation (deepfakes), privacy concerns, the loss of jobs, bias and discrimination, market and financial volatility, and a so-called singularity in which AI surpasses human intelligence.
Eure Meinung dazu interessiert natürlich schon.

This is a "deep fake" I made that my friend Exceed taught me how to do. This came out way better (and took way longer) than I expected for just learning how. I don't plan on doing this often, but I hope you enjoy this little side project! ◕‿↼
The rise of AI has people questioning what is real and what is fake.
Authenticity in the image world has now become so pointed that industry( leaders ( Adobe, la BBC, Microsoft et Sony ) have launched the Content Authenticity Initiative, or C2PA, which aims to make a standard for the provenance of images.
“With the rise of artificial intelligence—and its impact on deepfake videos, actors’ contracts, academic honesty, and a vast number of other topics—the line between ‘real’ and ‘fake’ has become increasingly blurred.”

°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°
With concerns over AI being misused, most companies are putting guardrails in place to curb the technology’s worst excesses.
Not so at Elon Musk’s X (formerly Twitter) 🤔
X launched an updated version of its AI model Grok this week that comes with new image generation capabilities powered by FLUX.1.
Users quickly discovered there are little to no safeguards on the AI image generator. Some began making photos of a pregnant Kamala Harris with Donald Trump, Mickey Mouse on a killing spree, and Barack Obama doing cocaine …
Most AI image generators have protections in place to prevent users from making pictures of trademarked characters, real-life people, or illegal activities. OpenAI, for example, denies requests for images of a particular person or entity on its image generator DALL-E.
But Musk’s X is taking a different approach. The platform is being flooded with wild images of beloved characters like Pikachu and Goofy doing unspeakable things.
How long Musk’s gung-ho approach to AI images is anyone’s guess.
X is currently under investigation by the European Commission for potential violations of the Digital Safety Act.
While in the U.S., legislators are seeking ways to regulate deepfakes and AI-generated misinformation !!! 🤔

There must be severe restrictions on the use of artificial intelligence. Those restrictions should have been here like yesterday! Because without any limitations, the more technology becomes available, the more people abuse it for their vile needs.
Do you remember WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes in Hollywood in the last year which took 4+ and 3+ month respectively? One of their goals was to limit the use of AI in the writing process and to prevent AI from replacing actors on set. The studios wanted to get exclusive and indefinite rights to extras' likenesses, including the use of generative AI to replicate them on screen, just for a one-time fee equivalent to one day's pay. That's how corporations want to abuse the power of AI.
Meanwhile, the artists and photographers struggle to prevent the use of their creations in the training of AI models. It have infringed the rights of millions of artists, whose pictures were used without any consent (and without any fees for those creators who let to use their creations only for a price). A trained AI also can be used to plagiarize someone's work or to remove your precious watermarks and copyrights off it. Yeap, someone would said "but artists watch the works of others to train themselves too". That's not the point. A human artist needs years of learning to create maybe a picture a day. The AI needs maybe a few hours of learning to be able to produce a picture a second. Yes, a second. No human is capable of that, so we can't compare human learning to computer learning, those things are different. The amount of time is different, the results are different. It's not the same at all.
The other problem with AI training on data is bias. Not enough data and the model is wrong (remember "gorilla" scandal). The worse thing is that AI model is created "in the image and likeness" of their creator. I mean, seeing some replies people get on certain questions for our local language-based AI, you can easily tell it was created by very misogynistic men. Also I remember how quickly some brand-new AI version was spoiled by the first users, who trained it to say very inappropriate things.
Speaking of language-based AI, some are already used to create and run spam and troll accounts. Some are used by the political forces.
Another problem with government use of AI is that in non-democratic countries AI is used to process big data received due to mass surveillance. For example, to identify, locate and jail people after peaceful protests.
And going back to training models, the last problem is that ordinary people can get realistic pictures and deepfakes very easy. And there is no such thing like "safe" or "harmless" picture. Someone would say "I'm just creating harmless picture of my favorite celebrity, that's all". Please stop doing this immediately. Because the more people ask AI for realistic pictures, the more realistic result they get, because every request is training AI better and better. And right now the models trained on "harmless" pictures make pictures and video so realistic that it used to create deepfakes porn with celebrities. And not just celebrities - recently a group of boys created deepfake porn with their schoolmate, she committed suicide. Even a brainless teen can have access to AI! That needs to stop.
I know, I know, the problem is not the technology itself, the problem is people who abuse it. But there are so many people, from stupid kids and disgusting adults to greedy corporations and paranoid governments, who abuse the power of AI. Honestly, I think the humanity is not ready for this technology, just like it wasn't and isn't ready for nuclear weapons. So there must (not should, must!) be severe restrictions introduced asap.
That, or just wait until the AI will evolve into superintelligence which will finally realize that humanity is a piece of garbage, and will respond with the only solution it learned well from it's creators: mass destruction.
Always sexy, always beautiful!

The debut of DigiDoug, a 3D digital twin rendered in real-time in incredible detail, on stage at TED2019 and back stage in VR conferencing. The current 1/6 second time lag will shrink with each turn of Moore's Law. See a supercool demo of the deepfake future, today.
"In an astonishing talk and tech demo, software researcher Doug Roble debuts "DigiDoug": a real-time, 3-D, digital rendering of his likeness that's accurate down to the scale of pores and wrinkles. Powered by an inertial motion capture suit, deep neural networks and enormous amounts of data, DigiDoug renders the real Doug's emotions (and even how his blood flows and eyelashes move) in striking detail. Learn more about how this exciting tech was built -- and its applications in movies, virtual assistants and beyond." — TED Talks

Do you see what I see?
Truth is an offense
You silence for your confidence
Do you hear what I hear?
Doors are slamming shut
Limit your imagination, keep you where they must
Do you feel what I feel?
Bittering distress
Who decides what you express?
Do you take what I take?
Endurance is the word
Moving back instead of forward seems to me absurd

I think the problem with Humanism is it’s arrogance and it’s Hubris.
To say that Humans are Superior to Nature; or Separate from Nature, is to Deny - or Defy - the Laws of Ecology.
Humans have crossed from the First World of Nature into the Second World of Culture.
But to say that it is the Destiny of Humans to control something that is larger than ourselves; to control a System that is larger than ourselves - is to place Humans as basically Gods on this Planet.
The Deep Long-Range Ecology Movement sees Humans as having very unique qualities; very special qualities.
There’s nothing in the Deep Long-Range Ecology Movement that is Anti-Human, that denigrates Humans; either as individuals, or as communities, or as a species - the critique of Modernism, and of Humanism, in the Deep Long-Range Ecology Movement; is that Humanism has confused Bigness with Greatness.
Humanists attempt to develop Bigger societies, Bigger technology; Mega technology - and claim that with Bigger technology, Humans are becoming Greater.
Greatness in Deep Ecology is cultivated through understanding of Humility - that Humans are plain citizens - in the words of ecologist Aldo Leopold (1887-1948): «Plain Citizens of Natural Systems; not Lords and Masters».

In a video posted to his official Instagram account, the real President Zelensky calls it a "childish provocation".
But the Ukrainian Center for Strategic Communications had warned the Russian government may well use deepfakes to convince Ukrainians to surrender.
My thoughts on the concept of deepfakes, with reference to the current issues with outdated tech laws in America.

Drag Queens, Drag Kings, Drag Things and Artificial Intelligence…Enter into the world of The Zizi Show (2020), a deepfake drag cabaret, a virtual online stage hosting a groundbreaking new show with a twist. It features acts that have been constructed using deepfake technology, learning how to do drag by watching a diverse group of human performers. The Zizi Show dissects one of the dominant myths about AI: the notion that ‘an AI’ is a thing we might mistake for a person. The bodies in the show have been generated by neural networks trained on a community of drag artists who were filmed to create training datasets at a London cabaret venue closed during COVID-19. During each act, audiences are invited to interact with the website and play with which deepfake bodies perform which songs. At times, this breaks down when the A.I. tries to conceive impossible positions or combines multiple different queer identities; it can even reveal the skeleton tracking the deepfake is built on.
