Schizostylis, also known as the kaffir lily, is an easy to grow perennial which produces almost evergreen sword-like leaves and masses of flowers in September and October.
(This year they are still growing in December as the weather has been so mild)
Although the majority are strong reds, the pale pink flowers of Schizostylis coccinea ‘Jennifer’ are larger than the original parent. These flowers, which last until the hard frosts, provide some much needed colour.
It loves moist areas in full sun but can also be grown in a pot, which by bringing into a greenhouse can extend its flowering period into the winter. It is fully hardy although some of the flowers may be damaged by a severe frost.
Growing to between 45 and 60cm (1½ - 2 ft) it is ideal for the middle of a border or in a moist area next to a pond. It can even be grown as a marginal plant.
Being a late flowering perennial, it finishes off the colours of a cottage garden taking the colour over from where crocosmia left off. It can be mixed with ornamental grasses as the foliage will match whilst the flowers will provide the interest.

I've been trying to find photos of Dark Mullein that don't have a wonky pole in the background - an earlier upload of mine does. But none of these are as good at showing the whole plant. So it looks like I'll be having another go at getting a better shot later this year! Meanwhile, these seem to be the best I can do...

This was such a gorgeous Peony, seen growing at Reader Rock Garden on 28th July last year. It was snowing when I first got up this morning, but has now turned into sunshine and blue skies. So I didn't need this bright splash of colour after all : )

These are the Dark Mullein plants that were home to the Striped Lychnis caterpillars I uploaded a day or two ago. If you look carefully, you can see the one at the top of the chewed off flower stalk at the left of the picture.

may be this flower made the color "pink" common.
Pink means the flower (Dianthus) itself. Then in1681 "pink-colored " was used. 1828 pink was used to describe the color like the pink flower.
Lightpink pink hotpink and deeppink are used today.

Hydrangea Paniculata 'Switch Ophelia'. The flowers start around about June and those same flowers have changed colours from creamy white to this deep pink. Beautiful textures in the petals.

Kanzan Cherry Blossoms are a popular variety of flowering cherry trees known for their stunning deep pink double flowers.
Kanzan cherry trees produce large, double blossoms with 20 to 50 petals. The flowers are deep pink and resemble small roses.
These cherry blossoms typically bloom in late April, about 10-14 days after the Yoshino cherry blossoms. Their peak bloom date is around April 22.
Kanzan cherry trees grow to a height of 3 to 9 meters (10 to 30 feet) and have a vase-shaped habit that becomes more spreading as they mature. They are deciduous and prefer well-drained locations in full sun.
Kanzan cherry trees are widely planted in Europe and North America for cherry blossom viewing. They are favored for their large flowers and ability to grow well in cold regions.
These trees are perfect for adding a splash of color to gardens and parks during spring. 🌸

This afternoon we went to Los Lunas for lunch. We ate at the Green House Bistro and Bakery. They have a big organic garden and they made our salads with their beautiful greens. The meal was wonderful. After we stopped by their backyard pond and I took several photos of the flora and fauna that reside there.
