Dark Mullein - Verbascum nigrum 7a
These are the Dark Mullein plants that were home to the Striped Lychnis caterpillars I uploaded a day or two ago. If you look carefully, you can see the one at the top of the chewed off flower stalk at the left of the picture.
Dark Mullein, Verbascum nigrum, growing on rough chalk grassland (strimmed annually, otherwise left fallow). Whiteshute Ridge, near Badger Farm, Winchester, Hampshire, UK, 22nd July 2011.
