If you want to clean a steel drinking straw you need to jam in and drag through a serious purpose-built brush.
I met up last Saturday morning with my good friend Marc Alexander for sunrise shots at Glebe of ANZAC bridge ..it was still dark so noise was to be expected on this image...tried to minimise JPEG artifacts in CS4 however they are there when I enlarge image for 300%.....

He had a good long life, but I sure will miss my visits with Francis, the Sun Bear.
He came to the SD Zoo after being rescued from the illegal wildlife trade in the late 1990s, and was about 21 years old when he passed away. Being the smallest species of bear, he had a cuteness that belied his age, especially when he delighted visitors with his signature pose. Francis was featured in the March 2019 ZooNooz after receiving stem cell therapy which signficantly improved his arthritis symptoms. Many thanks to the keepers and veterinary staff that gave the very best care to this beloved bear.
I imagine he’s climbing with ease in Heaven now, and I’ve heard the honey flows freely there.

After finishing the pano on the bridge, I walked to the end of the South Pond to grab one last shot during the final minutes of the blue hour.
Another shot testing the focus stacking of the OM 1. This one I chose to focus stack in PS verses in camera because I wanted an output other than a JPG to work with. After stacking I converted using the Filmpak Provia 400x emulation which really brought the colors out nicely.
Jupiter dominates the night sky over Monte Pelmo in the Italian Dolomites.
What was supposed to be a leisurely drive back to our apartment in time for an early dinner kept getting delayed as the route back was crammed with breathtaking views just begging us to stop. With all the delays, we gave up on getting back home for dinner and decided instead to stay out a bit longer to get few shots of the peaks with stars behind them. We found a small hotel near great views of Monte Pelmo and after taking some photos at twilight popped in to have dinner while waiting for the stars to come out.
After dinner, we waded through the deep snow to get the view you see here. This wasn't the time of year to get decent milky way shots, and in any case, it would not have aligned with the mountain. Instead we had to make do with Jupiter which was shining brighter than any star in the sky. A short wait for it to align nicely with Monte Pelmo and the result is the photo you see here.
