The Deeds Carillon tower decked out for the holidays with the moon twinkling in the sky. This was my first visit to this amazing park and I was particularly impressed by the immersive exhibits at the Wright museum. It won't be my last!
is a castle in Austria, considered one of Austria's most impressive medieval castles. It is on a 172-metre (564 ft) high dolomite rock near Sankt Georgen am Längsee, east of the town of Sankt Veit an der Glan in Carinthia. The rock castle is one of the state's landmarks and a major tourist attraction.
The castle was first mentioned in a deed of donation from King Ludwig the German from the year 860, when Friesach and several farms were donated to the diocese of Salzburg. Among them was a farm near Osterwitz (curtis ad Astaruizza). The castle is mentioned in the oldest documents, dated between the 11th and 12th centuries, and also during the attacks of the Turkish peoples in the 15th century as a place of refuge for the population. Initially owned by Count Ceizolf von Spanheim, a descendant of the German Emperor Arnulf von Karantanien, known as the first Donor von Osterwitz, the castle remains in his family's possession. After the death of Hans Schenk von Osterwitz on May 30, 1478, the last of his tribe, his property passed to King Friedrich III. return.

Golden Gate Castle
The Golden Gate manor house was built in 1884, commissioned by Clement Mertens.
In 1920, the castle grounds were bought by the managers of the De Beukelaer factories. That same year, the municipal council of Ekeren bought the castle.
Castle Golden Gate served successively as town hall (1920 - 1930), justice of the peace (1930 - 1970), and police commissariat (1972 - 2014).

Het Gulden Poort kasteeltje werd in 1884 gebouwd in opdracht van Clement Mertens.
In 1920 werd het kasteeldomein aangekocht door de beheerders van de fabrieken De Beukelaer. Nog datzelfde jaar kocht het gemeentebestuur van Ekeren het kasteeltje over.
Kasteel Gulden Poort deed achtereenvolgens dienst als gemeentehuis (1920 – 1930), vredegerecht (1930 – 1970), en politiecommissariaat (1972 - 2014).

Koud was de winter van 1996. Gelukkig ook koud genoeg dat men zonder zorgen op het Muntendammerdiep kon staan. Dit deed ik dus ook om goederentrein 52313 van Veendam naar de Maasvlakte te kunnen fotograferen die op deze dag met de 6453 (tot Onnen) onderweg was.
Der Winter in 1996 war so richtig kalt. Sogar kalt genug, dass sämtliche Kanäle und Flüsse zugefroren waren.
Dies nutze ich am 6. Februar aus um Güterzug 52313 - welche von Veendam nach de Maasvlakte unterwegs war - vom zugefrorenen Kanal "Muntendammerdiep" fotografieren zu können...
The winter of 1996 was really really cold. At night, the temperatures dropped as far as minus 26 degrees celsius (or minus 15 degrees Fahrenheit). As a result, a lot of rivers and canals were frozen enough for me to stand on and on February 6th, I used this to stand on the "Muntendammerdiep" to shoot freight train 52313 (running from Veendam to de Maasvlakte) in Zuidbroek...

This Bumble Bee needed something sweet and was very lethargic, so I gave it some sugary water and then carefully placed it amongst flowers that it likes. Fingers crossed my little good deed helped it on it's way.

This squirrel did the birds a good deed. The morning after our snowstorm, the tray feeder was covered with 3.5" of snow. Birds alit atop the snow but couldn't reach the seed underneath. Then along came the squirrel and dug out an access route for itself and, when it was full (which always takes a while) left it for the birds. (Its haunch and tail aren't black, just in the shade.)

For Joel. Dirty deeds done dirt cheap for all involved including me. LOL The dust does obscure many details and the pickup man cut off my view from the front of the bull with good reason when the bullfighter is in trouble he has to get involved...regardless, I was the only photographer to catch this much dirty action.
The bullfighter and cowboy luckily came away with some bumps and bruises. Johnny the bullfighter happily bought the previous photo, I never met a more polite young man, his folks raised him right. Perhaps that's why he tries his best to save cowboys putting himself in harm's way. Enjoy your weekend! Photo below

I'm not 100% sure about this shot... it's such a busy image. If the subject is the guy walking past the van, then the graffiti on the left is distracting. But I still like the overall look - the way that the frame is filled with flat sections of bold detail. So I've kept it.
