I'm dedicating this image to a dear friend of mine who was recently diagnosed with a rare type of cancer of the blood. She is a single mom with two children and only in her late 20's. Friday she started in earnest her treatments with the help of her two brothers that will be donors for her.

This was shot last night in a sunflower field in the great state of Kansas.

I went for a somewhat different look than my other recent waterfall shots. I attempted a more subdued, dreamy look rather than the hyperdetailed more obviously HDR look I usually go for. Let me know what you think. Seriously. I really, really, really want some constructive criticism.

Technical Details

These shapes were produced by cutting a piece of A4 yellow colour printing pater into stripes in about 90mm by 15mm (I’ve tried different ratios but I found this to be more aesthetically pleasing), trimmed the corners to make semielliptical shapes, brought the two pointed corners of each stripe together by using paper art glue.

Finally, I placed them on a minor arranging them in a sinuous shape I was having in mind. You can experiment with stripes of ribbons (perhaps with different colours) if you like, but for today’s theme I like the texture and rugged edges of a cut yellow paper.

The background was produced by placing a piece of yellow colour paper on top, of the mirror, in an angle such that it produced the radial gradient reflection.

... every two months, my Provincial Health Authority of Messina (Sicily) sends me on a mission for three days (from Taormina) to the Civil Hospital of Lipari, located in via Saint Anne ... In my spare time, free from commitments of work, I dedicate myself to my photographic passion; the photographs I present here were all taken in February of this year 2022; I took photos according to the dictates of street photography, I made some portraits, having always met people in the hand and very willing to let themselves be photographed (maybe ... that the islanders are open-minded, eager and used to communicate with strangers ..?!), some portraits were made of people intent on their work, some fishermen were intent on repairing their nets, a lady showed me one of her beautiful work, a blanket she made with knitting needles , hanging on her balcony (it reminded me of the shawls my grandmother made, also made with hand knitting needles); all the photos were taken in the city of Lipari, except three, taken in the dark in the port of Milazzo, the port of departure and arrival with hydrofoils (but there is also the ship) for the Aeolian Islands.

….ogni due mesi, la mia Azienda Sanitaria Provinciale di Messina, mi manda in missione per tre giorni (da Taormina) all’Ospedale Civile di Lipari, situato in via Sant’Anna …Nei ritagli di tempo, libero dagli impegni di lavoro, mi dedico alla mia passione fotografica; le fotografie che qui presento sono state tutte realizzate nel mese di febbraio di quest’anno 2022; ho realizzato foto secondo i dettami della fotografia di strada (street photography), ho realizzato alcuni ritratti, avendo incontrato sempre persone alla mano e molto disponibili nel lasciarsi fotografare (sarà forse…che la gente isolana è di mentalità aperta, desiderosa ed abituata a comunicare con gli estranei..?!), alcuni ritratti sono stati eseguiti a persone intente nei loro lavori, alcuni pescatori erano intenti a riparare le loro reti, una signora mi ha mostrato un suo bellissimo lavoro, una coperta da lei realizzata coi ferri a maglia, appesa nel suo balcone (mi ricordava gli scialli che realizzava mia nonna, anch’essi realizzati coi ferri a mano); tutte le foto sono state realizzate nella città di Lipari, tranne tre, realizzate col buio nel porto di Milazzo, scalo di partenza e di arrivo con gli aliscafi (ma c’è anche la nave) per le isole Eolie.

Gloomy day on Como lake, in Menaggio. As the title indicates, this glimpse was a happy discovery to which I really couldn't resist dedicating a black and white version, I hope you like it. Long exposure obtained with the Light Composite Olympus technique.

Questa è la veduta su Piazza Bagni di Gurgitello (detta in breve Piazza Bagni) che avevo dall'Hotel Il Nespolo, a Casamicciola Terme, nell'isola di Ischia, dove soggiornai con mia moglie dal 9 al 23 luglio 2021. In quella piazza parcheggiavamo la macchina, passeggiavamo, bevevamo il caffè al bar.

Ieri 26/11/2022 ho visto nei telegiornali e in internet quella piazza coperta da due metri di fango, a seguito della terribile frana che ha travolto il paese e questa zona in particolare.

Dedico questa foto con immenso affetto a tutte le persone di Casamicciola e dell'Isola di Ischia, augurando loro che tutto torni presto come prima.

This is the view of Piazza Bagni di Gurgitello (called Piazza Bagni for short) that I had from the Hotel Il Nespolo, in Casamicciola Terme, on the island of Ischia, where I stayed with my wife from 9 to 23 July 2021. In that square we parked the car, we walked, we drank coffee at the bar.

Yesterday 26/11/2022 I saw on the news and on the internet that square covered by two meters of mud, following the terrible landslide that swept through the town and this area in particular.

I dedicate this photo with immense affection to all the people of Casamicciola and the Island of Ischia, wishing them that everything will soon return to the way it was before.
