which is consecutive rain from the end of November to the beginning of December mainly and this name derives from the season when a Japanese flower named "sazanka" blooms.("tsuyu" means rainy season in Japan mainly in June)

I decided to dedicate this week to the flowers in my garden. Some really beautiful subjects did show up here during the last weeks I was able to capture. I want to start with a close shot of a small crocus island iluminated by the afternoon sun. The flowers are growing here in two levels because the purple are longer than the yellow ones. I like the colour contrast very much.

Ich habe mich entschieden diese Woche den Blumen in meinem Garten zu widmen. In den letzten paar Wochen haben sich hier einige wunderschöne Motive gezeigt, die ich festhalten konnte. Beginnen möchte ich mit der Nahaufnahme einer kleinen Krokus Insel die von der Nachmittagssonne zum leuchten gebracht wird. Die Blumen wachsen hier in zwei Etagen da die lila Pflanzen höher sind als die Gelben. Der Farbkontrast gefällt mir sehr.

I decided that I would start looking for color instead of whining about the lack of it. This morning I strolled around on the farm and really "looked" for beauty. In an overgrown pasture, the grasses were laden with a coating of frost and ice. In the distance, weeds were glistening with dew drops becoming sparkling gems of every color. It was breathtaking. (You can see the bokeh of those dew drops in this shot.) It was at that moment that I realized that beauty was there all along. It was in form, shapes, ice, frost, dew, it was everywhere! I stood quietly, in awe. Be prepared to see more glorious winter color on my page in the days to come! After all, winter is good!

At least once a year I dedicate a photo to these filigree beauties, the hepaticas in my garden. Of course, the photos all look very similar, because these flowers look like this, but still each of them is unique.

You have to be pretty quick to photograph the flowers in this gorgeous royal blue because the color of the flowers fades after just a few days.

Mindestens einmal pro Jahr widme ich ein Foto diesen filigranen Schönheiten, den Leberblümchen in meinem Garten. Die Fotos sehen sich natürlich alle sehr ähnlich, denn diese Blüten sehen nunmal so aus, doch trotzdem ist jedes von Ihnen einzigartig.

Man muss ziemlich schnell sein, um die Blumen in diesem prachtvollen Königsblau zu fotografieren, denn die Farbe der Blüten verblasst bereits nach wenigen Tagen.

Before I'm going to dedicate myself to the first spring flowers in my garden this weekend, here a small memory to the remarkable beautiful winter we’ve got behind us.

It was one of the coldest days of this winter, when I stood on that field, in an icy wind not long after sunrise. The apparent temperature was lower than minus 20 degrees und I couldn't stand it for long here. With all that glistening ice crystals around me and the veil of mist between the mountains of the Elbe Sandstone Mountains that scenery seem to be from another world. This is already one of my favourite shots of this year.

Bevor ich mich am Wochenenden den ersten Frühlingsblumen in meinem Garten widmen werde, hier noch eine kleine Erinnerung an den bemerkenswert schönen Winter der hinter uns liegt.

Es war einer der kältesten Tage des Winters, als ich kurz nach Sonnenaufgang in einem eisigen Wind auf diesem Feld stand. Die gefühlte Temperatur war unter minus 20 Grad und lange habe ich es hier auch nicht ausgehalten. Mit den glitzerden Eiskristallen überall um mich herum und den Dunstschleiern zwischen den Bergen des Elbsandsteingebirges wirkte diese Szene, wie aus einer anderen Welt. Das ist jetzt schon eins meiner Lieblingsbilder aus diesem Jahr.

I'm dedicating this photo to my dear friend, Barbara, who passed away yesterday. I received the sad news from England this morning from her loving husband, Geoff.

I had taken this photo last night - on the eve of her last day.

Barbara was diagnosed with MS when she was 18 years old and her last few years were difficult without the use of her limbs .. though she remained strong and cheerful.
