dedicated to Willigis Jäger
www.br.de/nachrichten/bayern/benediktinerpater-und-zen-me...
I didn't know about Willigis Jäger until recently when I started practicing with a local meditation group; they've become friends while I went through a rather difficult time and the regular Sunday evening practice became something to cherish and look forward to. Too little I know about Willigis Jäger, but I feel he would agree with Rupert Spira who a few days ago recorded this small but profound message:
the prayer I mean is not an asking for something, it is rather a withdrawing into one's inner silence, where the influence of senses and thoughts, through practice, become weaker and weaker ...
here is some more, for those inclined:
Dedicated to every dreamer... specially, for those one who work hard every day in order to get them accomplished.
Dedicated to a friend who's going thru a rough patch. Sometimes all we can do is remind them that things can only get better.
Dedicated to the new Yosemite OS being released soon by Apple.
My friend Mike Oria and I made a trek to document the Yosemite fire last night. The full moon was illuminating the mountains under a clear sky, but within a half an hour the smoke lowered and changed direction. and this view was lost. It was good to see the fire had abated by a large degree.
Dedicated Photographer stands precariously perched upon the cliffs of Whyte Islet, approx 50-60 ft above water level. (Height is a guess)
Temperatures were almost freezing and the forecast was calling for snow.
Whyte Islet is a very small island on the shore of Howe Sound. People hike across the rocks to climb upon this hidden West Vancouver gem. Being aware of the changing tide is very important....the rocky path leading from the beach can quickly disappear when the tide comes in. Many people have been left stranded high and dry on this cute little island. The waterline indicates the water depth reached.
For a broader perspective, please see the previous images.

Whytecliff Park is located near West Vancouver's Horseshoe Bay Neighbourhood, the original name of which was White Cliff City, which opened in 1909. In 1914, Colonel Albert Whyte pressed for the spelling change from White Cliff City to Whytecliff. The Whytecliff area is now distinct from Horseshoe Bay. The park, originally Rockcliffe Park, was developed by W.W. Boultbee in 1926, and a private access road was cut from the Marine Drive highway at Batchelor Bay.
The fifty acre Boultbee estate was purchased by the Union Steamship Company in 1939 and the company operated a Bowen Island Ferry from Whytecliff during 1939-41 and 1946-1952
The park is currently home to more than 200 marine animal species and is the first Marine Protected Area in Canada. Sea lions can be seen sunbathing on the beach during summer.

Dedicated to Mr Albert Finney who recently died . A great English actor who in the 1960 film Saturday Night and Sunday morning finally busted the myth that we all talked like the cast of Brief Encounter . Finally the camera went into a place where people actually worked. Nottingham is not actually in the North but people in the south thought i it was and it looked scary.
I have no idea if “ Saturday Night and Sunday morning “ crossed the Atlantic it might have been a little too realistic in 1960 .
I attach a youtube video of the first two minutes of the movie . In them Albert Finney who was playing Arthur Seaton says two unforgettable lines
“ Don't let the bast**** grind you down “ and “ What I was out for was a good time all the rest is propaganda “
Goodnight Albert

San Juan de Gaztelugatxe
The church on top of the island is dedicated to John the Baptist. Over the centuries the church has burned down and been rebuilt several times. It is believed that the first hermitage that existed here was erected in the 9th century. In the 12th century, it became a convent. However, two centuries later, the friars abandoned it taking with them everything of value.
In 1596, San Juan de Gaztelugatxe was attacked again, this time by Sir Francis Drake and his corsairs. They looted everything they found and killed the hermit that was living there by throwing him off a cliff to the rocks and water below.
San Juan de Gaztelugatxe also played a role, albeit small, during the Spanish Inquisition. Witches and their ritualistic meetings known as Akelarre in Basque, make up a part of the Basque mythology. For this reason, the Catholic Church focused much of its time during the inquisition hunting for witches in the region. Several accounts seem to indicate that many of the accused were locked up in the caves of San Juan de Gaztelugatxe.
The church deteriorated over time and it was eventually demolished in 1886 and then rebuilt from scratch. Unfortunately, during the demolition process, all of the artifacts found in the ground, such as coins and cannon balls, were thrown to the sea.

The seawall in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, is a stone wall that was constructed around the perimeter of Stanley Park to prevent erosion of the park's foreshore. Colloquially, the term also denotes the pedestrian, bicycle, and rollerblading pathway on the seawall, one which has been extended far outside the boundaries of Stanley Park and which has become one of the most-used features of the park by both locals and tourists. James "Jimmy" Cunningham, a master mason, dedicated his life to the construction of the seawall from 1931 until his retirement. Even after he retired, Cunningham continued to return to monitor the wall's progress, until his death at 85. While the whole path is not built upon the seawall, the total distance from CRAB park, around Stanley Park and False Creek to Spanish Banks is about 30 kilometres (19 mi).
