The three Punky Bears in Mummy Marian's house, bored on a rainy day in January, decide to do something.
PUNKINHEAD: (looks at a cupboard in the living room )
Hey Punky and Scottie...shall we see what's in that cupboard (points paw at the cupboard).
SCOTTIE;
Well....I'd like to, but we'll have to ask Mummy Marian if it's allowed.
PUNKY:
We can't, because she's shopping.
PUNKINHEAD:
Obviously...we tried to ask her, but if she's not here then we can't do anything else about it. We have done our best. So we are going to look in the cupboard.
Punky climbs on Scottie's back and Punkinhead then climbs on Punky's back and opens the door.
PUNKY:
Wow!!!! Look at that...what stuff is hidden in there.
All sorts of things are being looked at. Photo albums, books and CDs
Everything is mixed together.
Suddenly....
There are sounds of footsteps and a slamming door in the hallway.
PUNKY:
Quickly guys.... sit down and look ahead. Mummy Marian is back from shopping.
SCOTTIE:
I see her entering the room.....
ME:
What are you guys doing?????
PUNKINHEAD:
Well..uh..Punky wanted to sit in the dark and...uh....
PUNKY:’
I didn't want to sit in the dark at all. You wanted to.
ME:
No arguing. I know, though. You sneaked into the cupboard while I was away....isn't it?
SCOTTIE:
We got bored Mummy Marian
We can't play outside because it's raining.
ME:
Hm..I have an idea. You guys clean up and then we'll have hot chocolate with whipped cream.
PUNKINHEAD, PUNKY and SCOTTIE:
Yeeeehhhh!!!!!!!

Deciding to walk closer to Soda Lake yesterday to get a low photo with the hills in the background was an excellent decision. For a long time now I've wanted to witness American Avocets breeding. I've seen photos and video of what others have captured. I got to witness that yesterday. I was watching these two as they called and flew in pretty close to me. One kept it's head down for a long time (I thought it was just eating) so after checking my image real quickly and seeing that it wasn't eating but just hovering its bill above the water made me stop and think back to other images I'd seen. I quickly got low again and watched. It was over in an instant, but what an elegant behavior to observe. All I could say softly to myself was, "wow, wow, wow."

Italy //
A lookout in the mud after a stormy night in Italy. Wake up 4:30!
I observe a male roe deer in the distance, I try an approach, then on the way I decide to look quickly behind a small stream. There were a lot of crushed herbs the day before. And there, bingo, I come across this pretty female who was crazy in the field. Jumps, sprints, then meal breaks 💕. A magnificent sighting.
Italie //

Soft, even, overcast light and a Dunlin standing pretty along the shore. The chaos of the 100s of other shorebirds surrounding this one fades away when this beauty isolated itself to my right. It eyed me up for a moment, deciding whether it was safe to continue feeding in my direction. It was and she did.
I'm always attracted to these ... see first comment box. Perhaps a therapist could explain?

I love standing waiting for the storms and squalls to approach, watching everyone else leave the beach. I just get so absorbed in trying to capture all the drama that i forget about the imminent soaking. Deciding whether to run for cover or not is usually a last second spur of the moment thing.I usually just turn my back, cover the camera and wait , while the hail bounces off and all around me. Deciding to Run is by Richmond Fontaine, sometimes I'll run to a cliff or cave .

Although there is a sense in which the camera does indeed capture reality, not just interpret it, photographs are as much an interpretation of the world as paintings and drawings are :-)

Sometimes I find myself digging through my SL closet screaming in distress because I can’t decide what to wear even though there are innumerable clothes right in front of my eyes.
I am not alone... for it is a common phenomenon many experience here in SL not deciding upon what to wear beforehand because of our busy schedules and other RL priorities.
The solution to this problem requires us to spend some time mixing and matching our clothes and accessories to see what goes together. With our busy schedules it is difficult to do at times. Ah, but don’t worry, there is a solution for that!
This incredibly chic Just BECAUSE Fatima Set solves that dilemma. It features well-coordinated, two-piece separates consisting of a sexy cross strapped top with coordinated side-tied draping full length skirt. Just add your accessories, and voila!
The Fatima top and Fatima skirt are sold individually, allowing you more flexibility in choosing the top to fit your bust preferences.

This Green Heron just couldn’t decide: ‘Should I stay or should I go?’ He would stretch his neck up, begin to leave then compress that magical slinky neck down and relax for a few seconds before doing it again. Finally, he stretched his neck way out and took to the air. Green Herons are often amusing, chasing each other around, making strange sounds, fishing from low branches or from the air and working that magical neck. Lots of fun. I’ll be offline for a bit but wanted to wish everybody a wonderful New Year. See you in ’25! (Butorides virescens) (Sony a1ii, 400mm, f/2.8, 1/3200, ISO 1600)

I feel pleasantly old and stupid, deciding
not to worry about who I am but how I spend
my days, until I tear in the weak places
like a thin, worn sheet. Back in my room
I can't hear the river passing like time,
or the moon emerging from the shadow of earth,
but I can see the water that never repeats itself.
It's very difficult to look at the World
and into your heart at the same time.
In between, a life has passed.

I couldn't decide whether to keep the reflection in this shot or place the bird in a more central position. Although there is a bit of a gap in the middle of the photo I decided the reflection was too good to crop out.

People just decide that their boat isn't worth it anymore, they dump it or maybe it breaks down. According to CJ a local boat captain it costs they county about 15k to remove these boats and they only have a budget each year of 85K. So, when these owners determine enough is enough for them, they remove the VIN numbers and anything of value and let the rest of us pick up the mess. I really dislike people like that. Best part.... If you look at the name of the boat close up... Integrity.

diamètre de la base : 12 mètres
diamètre de la plate forme supérieure : 8 mètres

This is the last shot of a series of three I took in de dunes of Ameland, a beautiful Dutch island. I took them at the same spot, but from slightly different angles. At that moment I couldn't decide which composition was the best, I still can't.......maybe I doesn't matter.....

When deciding upon a single photo form a series of takes, some folks will like stuff others don't. I'm usually wrong about which photo people will like best, and by this time I should just learn to distrust myself (or simply not care). But both of those things come hard to me, so here is another horse photo.

I like it when a city decides to stick with its heritage. This modern street car, is a replica of the one my mother and I used to ride, on our sojourns into downtown San Francisco. That was sixty years ago, and I can still feel the gentle strength in her hands as she navigated me safely through the crowds.
Happy Slider's Sunday everyone.

The Pelican virtuoso has decided to perform in front of his peers, and it’s a real show! Who would have thought that fish could be so fascinating in mid-air ? Now, he’s the master of ceremonies at the lagoon, juggling a fish as if it were a circus ball. The other pelicans are enchanted, and some are even starting to learn a few tricks to rival the virtuoso. But beware, this fish might just be the most unpredictable partner in the show…
Who knows, maybe we’ll soon see an avian juggling festival with flying fish ? 😉

Will someone please say the unsayable?
Will someone please tell me I'm wrong?
I live every day like a sad beast of prey
For I have to appear to be strong
And that's wrong
I'm too weak to be strong
Today I met with the generals
And the head of my secret police
Discussing conspiracies and prison facilities
For opponents I can never release
And there'll be no peace
Until they're released
Of course I'm in league with the army
It's not like I've got any choice
They officially adore me and my father before me
But gunpoint has a firm voice
The joke is I'm not even a demagogue
Have you heard me giving a speech?
My facts are invented
I sound quite demented
So deluded it beggars belief
It would be such a relief
Not to give another speech
Can someone please say the impossible?
Crowds should be out on the street
I've lost any will to threaten or kill
I'll be easy for you to defeat
And any resistance I meet
I'll beat a retreat
I'd rather that you didn't shoot me
But I'd quite understand if you did
Watch out for the army
The generals will go barmy
At the thought of a takeover bid
Oh please will somebody put me
Out of my misery?
This sad old dictator must sooner or later
Flee so that you can be free
If you get rid of me
We can all be free
Lisa decides her cub, Sasha, has some schmutz on his face and gives it a good cleaning. Sasha seems none too pleased, but somehow endures. :)
Sasha was born six months ago on March 3, 2020 at Brookfield Zoo near Chicago. Amur Leopards are critically endangered with only 65 left in the wild now, so every cub that is born is precious. This is nine year old Lisa's fourth cub - all males!
And they were great playing together. Lisa is an awesome mom.
Schmutz, btw is a great, evocative word meaning 'that gunk on your face,' or more simply 'dirt.' It came to us out of middle German, through Yiddish, into American slang.
Tech note: The habitat for the Amur Leopards at Brookfield Zoo is difficult for cameras to deal with since there is netting/fencing everywhere, and in the morning, the sun backlights everything - so the fences are very apparent in any captures. Before the pandemic, we were able to get close to some large panes of glass, which, along with matting techniques, allow for some great images (see my stream for some of those). But now, they are blocked off, so we can't get close enough to the glass to prevent reflections. For this shot, I was able to find a new angle that was not backlit, but was through not one, but _two_ fences. Fortunately for this shot, with some DoF magic, I could make the fences disappear. :)
