Built in 1935 to link Whidbey Island in Island County, Washington (on the right) to Fidalgo Island in Skagit County, Washington. The bridge is 180 feet above the water.
From 1924 until the completion of the bridge, a small ferry called the Deception Pass ran between Yokeko Point and Hoypus Point. The ferry was owned and operated by Berte Olson, who was the first female ferry captain in the state of Washington.
Service on the small boat was, by most accounts, infrequent and the route was often canceled due to turbulent water conditions. Patrons were able to summon the ferry by hitting an old saw with a mallet. Fares were 50 cents for a car and driver, and 75 cents for larger vehicles.

Macromondays: Theme is Deception
The British government has a very odd attitude towards drugs. They continue to ignore all the scientific advice that by legalising certain drugs the overall level of harm can be reduced.
Yes people are harmed by drugs, but more people are harmed overall by the criminalisation of softer drugs. Several top government advisers resigned last year in protest - whilst it generated newspaper headlines, nothing positive resulted.
The problem is that "middle" England doesn't have a drug problem (yeah, right) and politicians are too afraid to loose their vote. So they continue to lie and tell us theirs is the best way forward. In the mean time more people end up with criminal records.
I have no beef here. I am not a drug user, but it does annoy me that policy is not made based on evidence. Rhetoric always wins the day :-(.

This island is the caldera of an active volcano, which seriously damaged local scientific stations in 1967 and 1969. The island previously held a whaling station.

This is a waterway that separates Whidbey Island and Pass Island. Washington Highway 20 crosses here over The Deception Pass Bridge and continues To Fidalgo Island and then the mainland.
Yes this portrait may look evil, but it kinda captures the intention behind the character.But i know this person personally and she's a sweetheart.

Una sera stavo guardando un servizio su questi nuovi canali del digitale terrestre riguardante Vanity Fair con intervista al direttore e telecamera che vagava per la redazione tutta tempestata di copertine del settimanale. Guardavo e pensavo "certo che in mezzo a tutte quelle un mio mosaico non ci starebbe proprio male".
Per cui la mattina seguente ho inviato in redazione due lavori stampati su tela. Un totale azzardo!!!

Anyone who knows me knows that I am not sure the best promoter of myself (apart from my website or social netoworks).
One night I was watching a service on these new digital terrestrial channels on Vanity Fair interview with the editor. The camera pointed on thosewall full of their covers creating a mosaic effect.
I watched and thought "sure that among all those a mosaic of mine could fit very well " So the next morning I sent to Vantiy Fair two works printed on canvas. A total chance!

For Macro Mondays theme "Deception". More of my many rings, what can I say? I love rings though I only ever wear my wedding rings!!
These are rings I bought for myself to be used in a play all about deception. When I was in college, I was in an American College Theatre Festival production of "Six Degrees Of Separation" by John Gaure. Unfortunately, I didn't get to play Ouisa Kittredge (the main "meaty" character) but I was her friend Kitty. Kitty was married to Larkin and they had one son. Their marriage, however, was not a happy one and Kitty was having an affair with a lawyer she knew. A very sticky situation inside a very sticky story!! Lots of deception going on!!
I had great fun going shopping with the costume designer and trying on all kinds of clothes that I, Mary Ann, would never in a million years wear!! When I asked her about my wedding ring, she said, to just wear something, no one will notice. But I would notice, I had to be a completely different person during that play and nothing I owned was right for my character. So I went to WalMart!! HA!!! I got these 2 cubic zirconia rings to try with the costume. I ended up wearing the contemporary gold one. Before the show started, I had to enter with the audience. On opening night, I walked to my seat passing my entire family and sitting only one row in front of them. Not one of them recognized me!! It was one of the most fantastic feelings I have ever had!! When I walked onstage to deliver my first line, I heard my mother gasp. It was a great show, and I enjoyed every single performance!!! I was nominated for an Irene Ryan scholarship for my portrayal of Kitty and got to travel to Arizona to compete for it! Good times...

Deception Pass is a natural landmark and a popular recreation area in the Pacific Northwest, located at the entrance to the northern Puget Sound. It is a dramatic, narrow strait separating Whidbey Island from Fidalgo Island in Washington State. When George Vancouver first came across the narrow straight in 1792, he thought it was the mouth of a large river. When he later discovered it was between two islands, he felt mislead and named the passage after its "deception."
The strait is known for its powerful tidal currents, stunning cliffs, and the Deception Pass Bridge, which offers panoramic views of the Sound, cliffs, and the turbulent waters below. They are all part of Deception Pass State Park, Washington’s most visited state park, offering boating, hiking, and camping.
The bridge, one of the scenic wonders of the Pacific Northwest, is actually two spans, one over Canoe Pass to the north, and another over Deception Pass to the south. They come together on a small island. Height - 180ft. - Length 1,487ft. Completed in 1935.
Here I was a Deception Pass and wanting to take a photo of the bridge. Then I remembered what a photographer friend told me, "Take photos regardless of the weather. When it's foggy take fog photos."
