Most photos of christmas trees are dishonest at representing the experience of actually looking at the depicted christmas tree in person, and this one is too. The orange and white traffic barrels were there, and a fog was upon the Michigan State Capitol dome, but the christmas tree looked significantly different from this in real life.
It was possibly the showiest extravagance ever displayed in Lansing Michigan!, but this is not what it looked like.
This spectacular monster is a spruce from Alpena County.

December Challenge Day 23: Together
OK, I know what you are thinking. Me and a harmonica represents together? Let me explain.
My mom, wise soul that she is, knew I was struggling in college, struggling how to bleed off stress. In grade school or high school, she could tell when I was destressing by how I played the piano. I wasn't aware that I would change how I played but she could tell. My piano didn't fit well in my dorm room (go figure), so I lost that stress relief. At Christmas of my sophomore year, she got me a harmonica. For much of the eight years that followed, my harmonica and I were together constantly. I didn't stop carrying it around until Ginger came into my life. It wasn't a conscious decision on my part. Only later did I realize that I didn't need to feel its constant presence in my pocket, to have the ability to take the harmonica out when I needed it. I still own three harmonicas and I do play them from time to time.
