Due to weeks with storms and heavy rain and the absence of daylight on the 62 latitude in December, I gave my camera some days off. But suddenly the wind stopped and we went out to visit this beautiful spot in the neighborhood.
Northern 156480 has just arrived at Newcastle platform empty stock (5W43) from Heaton depot and will form 2W43, 14:30 Newcastle – Nunthorpe, 16th December 2016.
The Nottingham NET Tram system operates fifteen Bombardier five segment articulated Incentro trams built at Derby in 2002/03 and twenty two Alstom Citadis 302 five segment articulated trams built in 2013/14 for the Phase 2 system expansion. It seems that it is the Bombardier Incentro trams that receive any promotional liveries and 211 has lost its rather ironic Alstom promotional light blue livery for this green/purple/blue “deliveroo” livery. 211 stands in the Station Street tram stop on the 21st December 2017.
With the 2016 rail head treatment season finished Direct Rail Services 20305 is stabled at York waiting its fate (most likely nine months in store), 16th December 2016.
Locomotive History
20305 was originally D8095 and was built by English Electric at the Robert Stephenson and Hawthorn works, Darlington. It entered traffic in October1961, allocated to Eastfield for Scottish lowlands and Fife coalfield duties. It was renumbered 20095 under the 1973 TOPS renumbering scheme and remained in Scotland until transferred to Immingham in December 1978. The next nineteen years were spent predominately allocated to either Immingham, Tinsley, Thornaby or Toton although it returned to Eastfield in May 1984 for a two year spell. In 1997 it was sold to Direct Rail Services who refurbished and renumbered it 20305. Recently it has spent long periods in store with its spells in traffic on rail head treatment trains.
Prudhoe Signal Box on a grey and wet winters day, 30th December 2023, The box was built by the North Eastern Railway and opened in 1872 It is a rather tall, three storey example of the then “standard” North Eastern Railway Northern Division signal box design. It is fitted with a 45 lever mechanical frame.
Arrival Trains Wales class 150/2 two car unit 150241 stands in the new platform 0 at Cardiff Central, 18th December 2008.
Unit History
Built at York works in 1987 and originally used on Yorkshire duties I first saw this unit on the 28th May 1987 at Derby.

On Boxing Day evening it snowed heavily for a couple of hours and the following day was quite sunny and I was able to get out for an hour or so amongst the Christmas holiday festivities. East Midlands Trains 156473 passes over Barton Lane crossing with 2L60, 10:36 Lincoln – Leicester, 27th December 2014.
Unit History
156473 was built in 1989 and spent the majority of the next twenty two years allocated to Neville Hill or Newton Heath on West Yorkshire and North West local duties. At the end of 2011 there was a shuffle of Diesel Multiple Units’s between Train Operating Companies and East Midlands Trains gained four class 156 units (156470/73/97/98) from Northern Rail. 156473 arrived at Etches Park in October 2011 and entered service with East Midlands Trains shortly afterwards.

SEE THE LAST TOTAL ECLIPSE OF THE MOON UNTIL 2014
This animation simulates the total lunar eclipse of Dec 10, 2011.
The animation depicts the Moon passing into and through the outlined shadow of the Earth, with the "camera" following the Moon as it moves against the background stars and through the shadow. It is when the Moon enters the inner ring — the umbra — that you see a noticeable darkening appear on the edge of the Full Moon, a darkening that grows to engulf the Moon until it is completely within the umbra and totality begins. Note the sky gets brighter with dawn light beginning about the time totality begins and is quite bright by the end of totality.

WHAT
During a total lunar eclipse, the Full Moon passes through the shadow of the Earth and the entire Moon turns deep red — in this case for 51 minutes.
WHEN
On December 10 the partial phase of the eclipse begins at 5:45 a.m. That’s when the Moon begins to enter Earth’s shadow and a dark bite appears on the Full Moon.
Over the next 81 minutes more of the Moon is engulfed in our shadow, until 7:06 a.m. when the Moon is entirely within Earth’s shadow and the total eclipse begins.
The total eclipse lasts until 7:57 a.m. when the Moon appears just above the northwest horizon, about to set. The sky will be so bright that the dark eclipsed Moon may be difficult to see as the Moon begins to emerge from our shadow.
From Calgary, the Moon sets at 8:34 a.m., with the partial eclipse in progress — the Moon will appear about half eclipsed as it sets.

WHERE
When the total eclipse begins the Moon will be low in the northwest, setting into a sky brightening in the pre-dawn twilight. This will be the best time to see the total eclipse from Alberta—around 7:06 a.m. Look northwest to see the red Moon.
HOW TO VIEW
Lunar eclipses are perfectly safe to look at with the unaided eye or any optical aid. Binoculars will provide the best view. The best viewing location will be from a rural site with an unobstructed view to the northwest.
Due to its urban location and Tom Campbell Hill to the northwest, no public observing event is planned at TELUS Spark the morning of the eclipse, December 10.

Volvo BT66 MVP is only a few days old as it starts off from Scarborough, North Bay on a Transdev Yorkshire Coastliner service to Leeds, 29th December 2016. BT66 MVP is a Volvo B5TL chassis fitted with a Wright Gemini 3 body and had entered service with Transdev on the 12th December 2016.

raw milk bought at the local feed store. or rather, exchanged. bring in an empty gallon jar, leave it with $4 inside it on top of the fridge there, pick out a full jar from within, and bring it home.
