This is my version of the December Virtual Sketch Date photo. Didn't get it done in time to submit it, though. :-( Winsor & Newton watercolours (only four colours - Winsor Blue, Permanent Rose, Winsor Yellow, Burnt Umber) on Saunders Waterford NOT paper, 9.5x6in.

The origins of this structure date back to the 14th century, when a building was put up for the needs of city officials and tradesmen. The so-called Blackheads Society, whose patron was St. Mauritius, took over the building in the 15th century, although the name of Blackheads House dates back only to 1687. In 1713, the society won full ownership rights to the building. It once contained one of the world’s richest collections of silver objects. The building was destroyed during World War II, but on June 29, 1995, the foundations for the structure that is seen today were laid..

Al was dating Mary, but in those days, a chaperone was needed, so he had to scrounge up a date for her sister. He agreed to pay train fare for my dad to go on a date with Mary's younger sister.
Dad was 17 and Mom was 16 here, in 1940 Manhattan.

The signage of the Apollo 11 Restaurant at 1093 Bathurst Street just south of Dupont Street dates this restaurant as surely as anything else I could imagine. At one point the name must have seen up-to-date and futuristic. Now it isn't even retro-futuristic; it's just kitsch.

The figures remaining in the tracery lights date from the 15th century and include a figure of Christ crowned with thorns (top centre). Additionally, figures survive from scenes representing the Annunciation and the Coronation of the Virgin Mary. Christopher Woodforde considers them similar in style to those found at St Peter Hungate (Norwich) and Stratton Strawless although “not as good” stating “The drawing is thin and the colouring poor.” He believes that they may have been produced by a local firm.
