In Greek mythology, Callisto or Kallisto was a nymph, or the daughter of King Lycaon; the myth varies in such details. She was one of the followers of Artemis (Diana for the Romans) who attracted Zeus. According to some writers, Zeus transformed himself into the figure of Artemis to lure Callisto and seduce her. She became pregnant and when this was eventually discovered, she was expelled from Artemis's group, after which a furious Hera, the wife of Zeus, transformed her into a bear. Later, just as she was about to be killed by her son when he was hunting, she was set among the stars as Ursa Major ("the Great Bear"). She was the bear-mother of the Arcadians, through her son Arcas by Zeus.

I am intrigued by the inherent emptiness of a computer-generated copy in relation to the cultural significance of the original. My recent paintings source imagery from an online database of 3d print files. I have printed physical replicas of ancient artefacts from stl files containing print errors. The resulting sheering and visible support structures almost act like digital representations of Michelangelo’s method, where wax models surfacing from water would indicate where marble should be chiselled away. This is most evident in his unfinished "Slaves" sculptures.

A lovely Collage for the Database of my Iplehouse YID Freezia Twins named Amber (Freezia, left) & Violet (Gentle Freezia, right), but I'm a little disapointed with this shots since they didn't become as I had wanted them. But oh well, I'm still practising. ^^;;;

If you curse pot buoys in the Solent (and elsewhere), why not support the creation of the RYA entanglement database?
It is a bit tedious, so I am limiting myself to1 report per day out on the water. The steps are
1: Photograph the buoy
2: Note the date and time
3:Write down the lat and long from your gps
3: Fill in the RYA online form
I choose to put date time and position (lat and long) on the photo, but it is not essential
The hardest part is finding the RYA report form which is hideously buried on the RYA website. You have to go the rya site, switch to knowledge and advice, then click on search until you get a "serach the rya site" box. Enter "fishing" in the box and click on "fishing gear entanglements" to get to the form.
But if we all do it, at a rate of 1 per day, then maybe the message will get across that these pot lines improperly marked are a real danger
