I always look forward to hearing the Dapper Dans when I'm at the park. At times they sound so good, people actually think they are lip syncing. In fact, there were more than a few folks on a Disney Discussion board recently who swore up and down that they were lip syncing to a track. As I explained to them, this can EASILY be disproved if you spend any time at all watching them and you actually use your powers of observation. The bicycle built for four is always a nice touch. :)
The first time into the Magic Kingdom during a trip is always a great feeling. This was our first trip to where Magic Kingdom wasn't our first park that we visited, we decided Epcot was a better idea. So the next morning when we entered the Magic Kingdom, I was ready for some fun. Coming down Main Street into the hub, shooting pictures all the way, I saw the Dapper Dans talking to some guests and getting pictures. So I politely waited for the guests to be done and then said, "Hey Fellows, can I get a smile?" One got the attention of the other three and I got this great pose. Dapper Dans on Main Street USA
I happened to be walking out of one of the shops just after they started their performance. Thought the POV would be a different approach and am happy with how it came out.
On a side note, I realized how much time you can actually spend on Main St this past trip. I ended up staying there for about an hour checking out the shops and different "Citizens of Main Street" that walk around.
The Dapper Dans are getting ready to start their day by harmonizing all the way up and down Main Street USA at Disneyland. On this day, Lee, the big draft-horse in charge of the Street Car, was acting up a bit...he was nervous because the sound system the Dans use was reverbing and popping loudly in the speakers very close to the Street Car and he began to get jumpy. Immediately, these three conductors showed up and calmed the big animal down and the Dapper Dans were on their way...One thing caught my attention when I processed this...the gal on the right is wearing cowboy boots!

The Dapper Dans are a barbershop quartet that performs at Disneyland in Anaheim, California (since 1959), at the Magic Kingdom at the Walt Disney World Resort (since 1971), and at Hong Kong Disneyland in Lantau Island, Hong Kong (from 2007 to 2008). A quartet (from the UK) also performed at Disneyland Paris from the opening in 1992 until 1995 and were known as the Mainstreet Quartet.
W 14th St, Chelsea. This was a discount beauty supply or 99 cent store for years. The old terrazzo at doorway has already disappeared.This is now covered up (I hope) by a sign for a bagel shop. as of 12/2009

As part of the Main Street USA Street Photography photo meet in the Magic Kingdom I hosted for AllEars.net back on January 22, 2011, I wanted to photograph the Main Street Trolley Parade. Of course, before you can have a parade down Main Street USA, you need to get the trolley up to Fantasyland. This is done by taking guests, one way, from the Main Street Train Station to a stop on the Hub in front of Cinderella Castle. The trip is made even more magical when the Dapper Dans hitch a ride and serenade guests riding on the horse-drawn trolley.
The meet was attended by Deb Wills and Deb Koma of AllEars.net and flickrites Bob Desmond, Scott Smith, Dave Kliment and his wife, Gillian, and Jeff Krause. Adding an international flare was Matt, a young photographer from Australia.

This barbershop quartet spins harmonies as they play the chimes, tap dance and regale audiences with vaudeville humor. These guys are excellent musicians and incredible entertainers. If you see them walking "in formation" (i.e. ready to sing), you simply MUST stop what you're doing and follow them until they start their show!
We stumbled upon the Dapper Dans right after they started their set and stayed until the end. They even serenaded my mom!
