Emmie and Dapper Dan are warming up while they wait for the rest of the quartet on this Barber shop quartet day!!
"This dapper little mouse that wore such cute clothes and said such interesting things, yeah. I thought it was a great idea to have a mouse like that in your family, so now I get to see what it was like."

Not my way of dressing, but this guy has some serious, serious threads. Definitely a well dressed man, with style, and flair...
I get by with a little help from my friends, even if all they do is take my car keys. Rodeo wraps up early enough on Saturday, where you might actually make it to church Sunday morning--("one day o' prayin' and six nights of fun...odds against going to heaven, 6:1")

For the finest in Main Street U.S.A. entertainment, look no further than the Dapper Dans of Main Street. This barber shop quartet performs numerous times a day; setting up the good spirit for guests to carry for the rest of the day.
"If you liked us, we're the Dappper Dans. If you didn't, we're the Vienna Boys Choir." .... Gotta love 'em.

This was taken during the Photowalk setup by Scott Thomas. I had the pleasure to meet some people from AllEars.net, as well as a few Flickrites... Bob Desmond, Dave & his wife, and Jeff Krause.

The Dapper Dans are a barbershop quartet that perform on Main Street USA in the Magic Kingdom. I never got to see them perform, but I got this shot just after they finished a set.

The Mayor and Smokey the Fire Chief head down MSUSA around mid-morning of #Disney24, 2014. This year was pretty fantastic around 9am on Main Street with so many vehicles and citizens out and about - it felt more alive than I've seen it in years. Here, the Mayor is waving to friends of mine just out of the shot as he rides back down towards Town Square.
Gotta love these photogenic fellas.

A chance encounter with the Cadaver Dans and Adam's 75mm mounted to my camera made for some shooting outside my comfort zone. I never shoot at that focal range (150mm equivalent) and I rarely ever shoot street performers in the parks. That needs to change though, because characters like the Cadaver Dans (the Dapper Dans by daylight) are as much a part of the park's sights & sounds as the attractions and architecture.
Processing the shot (in Lightroom 5)
This shot was poorly framed with half a cadaver on the left side of the frame (part of his sleeve is still visible in this shot). I Wanted to focus on the two Dans pictures above since they were more in focus which left me with a square crop.
I brought the exposure down a pinch to darken the shot and pushed the clarity slider up slightly to give it a bit of an edge.
Then, to add more punch I pushed up the purple, blue, red and yellow saturations individually.
The shot isn't a sharp as I would have liked, so pushed the sharpening slider just slightly to tighten things up.
I had one of the Dan's thumbs in the shot, so I used to spot removal tool to take it out (no Dan's were harmed in the removing of the thumb).
Even with a post crop vingette the background upper-middle of the shot was a bit too bright and distracting so I went in the adjustment brush and selectively dropped down the highlights and the exposure.
Then, off to Flickr it went via Jeffrey Friedl's "Export to Flickr" plugin.
Thanks for looking, and a very merry Boo to You!
Have a great day,
-Alan

I got "caught" at the Main Street Station when the Disneyland Band showed up with Mickey and the Dapper Dans to play a set, so I got some neat photos from this heightened perspective.

Decided to process some shots while watching an extremely frustrating Bruins game last night (the officials should have been wearing Montreal jerseys :) I have not had time to post on flickr at all the past few weeks due to my work schedule but I have been viewing everyones uploads when I can. I am hoping to get back into regular posting (and commenting!) in the next few weeks.
Be sure to checkout today's post on WDW Photography. I reviewed a new iPad app Photosmith that is almost a mobile version of Lightroom (minus the processing). It allows you to completely organize your photos while away and then sync to your computer when you get back. We are giving away two copies today on the blog and also one copy to a follower on Twitter.
First new Disneyland shot in a while! Feels good, man. This particular shot was taken together with c-lemon. She is to thank for convincing me to try photographing people for a change! And who better to start with than Disneyland's barbershop quartet The Dapper Dans?

The first time into the Magic Kingdom during a trip is always a great feeling. This was our first trip to where Magic Kingdom wasn't our first park that we visited, we decided Epcot was a better idea. So the next morning when we entered the Magic Kingdom, I was ready for some fun. Coming down Main Street into the hub, shooting pictures all the way, I saw the Dapper Dans talking to some guests and getting pictures. So I politely waited for the guests to be done and then said, "Hey Fellows, can I get a smile?" One got the attention of the other three and I got this great pose. Please let me know what you think and as always, Enjoy!

Even the music along Main Street, U.S.A. is right out of the Gay Nineties. One of the most popular groups is "The Dapper Dans" Barber Shop Quartet.

I always look forward to hearing the Dapper Dans when I'm at the park. At times they sound so good, people actually think they are lip syncing. In fact, there were more than a few folks on a Disney Discussion board recently who swore up and down that they were lip syncing to a track. As I explained to them, this can EASILY be disproved if you spend any time at all watching them and you actually use your powers of observation. The bicycle built for four is always a nice touch. :)
The Dapper Dans are getting ready to start their day by harmonizing all the way up and down Main Street USA at Disneyland. On this day, Lee, the big draft-horse in charge of the Street Car, was acting up a bit...he was nervous because the sound system the Dans use was reverbing and popping loudly in the speakers very close to the Street Car and he began to get jumpy. Immediately, these three conductors showed up and calmed the big animal down and the Dapper Dans were on their way...One thing caught my attention when I processed this...the gal on the right is wearing cowboy boots!
This was taken on the second day of the Mice Chat Photo Meetup-I was there for a brief time in the morning...

I happened to be walking out of one of the shops just after they started their performance. Thought the POV would be a different approach and am happy with how it came out.
On a side note, I realized how much time you can actually spend on Main St this past trip. I ended up staying there for about an hour checking out the shops and different "Citizens of Main Street" that walk around.
