Designed and built in 1929. The ballroom was a major venue for bands of the 1930s and 1940s. Built in an Art Deco styling with an Aztec theme. At 5600 sq feet, it was meant to hold around a 1000 couples. The maple dance floor was built on springs to give the dancers a bounce as they moved.
After closing around 1958, it reopened in the mid 60s as a concert venue. With shows a couple times a week, bands such as the MC5; The Stooges; and Ted Nugent and The Amboy Dukes played here. Soon the doors closed again.
Also more recently featured in a the Eminem movie, "8 Mile".
It now sits empty, neglected and dilapidated like many other historic locations in Detroit.

This morning in te car to speuld it was foggy, when I was there there was no fog at all. I could take a few photo"s.
'Het Speulderbos' is called ' the forest of the dancing trees'. The forest is not just mysterious, it is also very rare. It's a paradise for birds (of prey), deer, badgers and wild boars. So there is enough choice to have a good time!

The same stream of life that runs through my veins night and day
runs through the world and dances in rhythmic measures.
It is the same life that shoots in joy through the dust of the earth
in numberless blades of grass and breaks into tumultuous waves
of leaves and flowers.
It is the same life that is rocked in the ocean-cradle of birth and of death,
in ebb and in flow.
I feel my limbs are made glorious by the touch of this world of life.
And my pride is from the life-throb of ages dancing in my blood
this moment.
These two trees always attract my attention, as if they dance together and in every season with every light it gives a completely different picture.
What looked like a dance was in fact some gentle chase of the Intermediate Egret (Ardea intermedia) by the Eastern Great Egret (Ardea modesta).
Yesterday I heard about the lockdown radius to be expanded to 10 km, but I didn't hear "from 11:59 pm on 17 September". I heard 17 September only ;-)

This is part of an art museum. The photo was taken by chance. As I looked down the spiral staircase, I overheard a stranger—someone I didn’t know—saying they wanted to dance in this space. I instinctively raised my camera and took the shot.
