It’s a jungle out there, flying around the butterfly exhibit, and with wings as big as these, it’s not surprising that they sometimes get damaged, I guess.

I’m uncertain what kind of butterfly this is. Though its coloring and underside wing markings are similar to those of the common morpho, they are different from the photos of morphos that I have seen. Further, this butterfly has blue markings on its body, while photos of morphos generally show reddish body markings. Any ID help is welcome.

This shot was taken at a recent butterfly exhibit at Dow Gardens, in Midland, Michigan, and is submitted for the Textural Tuesday group.

Thanks to smfmi for an ID! I'm pretty sure it's an owl butterfly. I checked several images and the markings are very similar.

I spotted this Monarch on two straight days, in precisely the same place. It was significantly damaged, and fluttered about more than flew. Still, it moved from blossom to blossom. The power of nature's programming.

A small figurine that suffered damage when I froze it in ice for an earlier Macro Mondays challenge. I tried to glue the tail back on, but was not very successful. For Macro Mondays: Damage and for my POTD.

When I found this earwig it took my attention the color variation (specially in his intense orange pronotum and his dark abdomen and forceps).Although it seems a lie I did not notice the tremendous hole in its final abdomen part when I took the shots.

I suppose that it is a female of Forficula auricularia but I'm not sure ( There are more species of earwigs in the south of Spain than I thought).

I was doing some yard work earlier this year and came across someone's long lost toy car.

This old and mighty Horse Chestnut was brought down in high winds near my village, blocking our main route out…the other side of this road leading out of the village is closed due to a gas leak which only left us with a narrow single track lane to leave the village by.
