366-The 2016 Edition-Daily Routine

DDC-Makes Her Happy

We do this every morning with Shizandra. She loves to play buggy, it definitely makes her happy! She runs up down the hall and gets a good morning work out.

in the early morning light of barcelona, a hidden courtyard reveals the layered life of the city. buildings of different eras stand shoulder to shoulder, their facades a patchwork of history and daily life. the rising sun throws a sharp divide of light and shadow, carving out spaces where private lives unfold in the urban tapestry. balconies offer a glimpse into the quiet start of the day, as the city awakens in a hush, preparing to pulse with vibrancy once more.

Never would I have imagined posting pics of disinfectant but this is the reality of lockdown. My day begins with a cup of tea, taking my temperature, disinfecting the work surfaces and door/drawer handles followed by a shower. Warning: DO NOT drink this!

amidst the urban symphony of new york city, the essence of daily life unfolds at a bustling food stand. the mingling scents of grilled meats and fresh pretzels waft through the air, blending with the hum of conversations and city sounds. illuminated by the glow of hanging bulbs, vendors and patrons alike are caught in a fleeting moment of exchange and sustenance. a child sips on a soda, his gaze wandering as if absorbing the city's energy, while a woman in a mask moves purposefully through the scene. this image captures the vibrant, everyday heartbeat of the metropolis, where every interaction tells a story of survival and connection.

on a crisp winter morning in the heart of munich, sunlight carves sharp shadows along the city streets. a man strides purposefully, his coat buttoned against the chill, his expression set against the day's demands. the poster beside him, vibrant with the image of a woman in a dirndl, adds a splash of color and contrast, embodying a different world of festivity and warmth. this moment, captured in the intersection of everyday life and commercial imagery, tells a story of urban rhythm and the fleeting nature of human encounters.

Coffee is most definitely part of my daily routine. On the weekend, I take the time to make real espresso using a trusty (and noisy) old Faema machine handed down from my parents. I find the crema from Illy's espresso grind just perfect.

Now before the coffee snobs get all up in arms about me using pre-ground (gasp!) Illy (what mass market dreck!) espresso instead of hand-picked, roasted-no-earlier-than-yesterday, ground-no-more-than-30-seconds-ago, organic, fair trade, shade grown, pooped-out-by-civet-cats high altitude low pressure $100/kg beans, let me preemptively say this: I don't want to hear it.

January photo Challenge

Home and making dinner. Anna made some cornbread to go with my squash soup (don't make that face, it is sooo good) , I made some chicken salad for sandwiches this week and we did homework and other regular evening stuff.

366-The 2016 Edition

Making meals is something I do every day. This Spaghetti Squash is for our supper. I made a special sauce for it. This is a great alternative to pasta.

in the stretched silence of the markethall of cabanyal, there sits a figure, draped in the day's fading light. he occupies the frame with an ease only found at the day's end, his phone a modern tether to unseen words. the stalls, now barren, echo a day's bustling commerce, standing as silent sentinels to the daily ebb and flow of market life. there's a tranquility here, in the convergence of solitude and cessation, where the man and the market both pause, in mutual reprieve, under the watchful glow of the fluorescent guardians.

They do this faithfully every day, weather permitting of course!

Kolkata /koʊlˈkɑːtɑː/, formerly Calcutta /kælˈkʌtə/, is the capital of the Indian state of West Bengal. Located on the east bank of the Hooghly river, it is the principal commercial, cultural, and educational centre of East India, while the Port of Kolkata is India's oldest operating port as well as its sole major riverine port. As of 2011, the city had 4.5 million residents; the urban agglomeration, which comprises the city and its suburbs, was home to approximately 14.1 million, making it the third-most populous metropolitan area in India. As of 2008, its economic output as measured by gross domestic product ranked third among South Asian cities, behind Mumbai and Delhi. As a growing metropolitan city in a developing country, Kolkata confronts substantial urban pollution, traffic congestion, poverty, overpopulation, and other logistic and socioeconomic problems.

In the late 17th century, the three villages that predated Kolkata were ruled by the Nawab of Bengal under Mughal suzerainty. After the Nawab granted the East India Company a trading license in 1690, the area was developed by the Company into an increasingly fortified mercantile base. Nawab Siraj ud-Daulah occupied Kolkata in 1756 after company started evading taxes and due to increasing militarization of the fort, the East India Company retook it in the following year and in 1793 assumed full sovereignty after Mughal governorship (Nizamat) was abolished. Under East India Company and later under the British Raj, Kolkata served as the capital of India until 1911, when its perceived geographical disadvantages, combined with growing nationalism in Bengal, led to a shift of the capital to New Delhi. The city was the centre of the Indian independence movement; it remains a hotbed of contemporary state politics. Following Indian independence in 1947, Kolkata—which was once the centre of modern Indian education, science, culture, and politics—witnessed several decades of relative economic stagnation. Since the early 2000s, an economic rejuvenation has led to accelerated growth.

As a nucleus of the 19th- and early 20th-century Bengal Renaissance and a religiously and ethnically diverse centre of culture in Bengal and India, Kolkata has established local traditions in drama, art, film, theatre, and literature that have gained wide audiences. Many people from Kolkata—among them several Nobel laureates—have contributed to the arts, the sciences, and other areas, while Kolkata culture features idiosyncrasies that include distinctively close-knit neighbourhoods (paras) and freestyle intellectual exchanges (adda). West Bengal's share of the Bengali film industry is based in the city, which also hosts venerable cultural institutions of national importance, such as the Academy of Fine Arts, the Victoria Memorial, the Asiatic Society, the Indian Museum and the National Library of India. Among scientific and technical institutions, Kolkata hosts the Agri Horticultural Society of India, the Geological Survey of India, the Botanical Survey of India, the Indian Science Congress Association, the Zoological Survey of India, the Institution of Engineers and the Anthropological Survey of India. Though home to major cricketing venues and franchises, Kolkata differs from other Indian cities by giving importance to association football and other sports.

A photosequence for... a university project once again :P in which I depict the daily routine seen on feet...

Every morning starts with a brisk 2 mile walk with Bailey. This is followed closely by a pour over coffee perfectly creamed to just the right color. #cy365 #captureyour365 Day16/365 #dailyroutine #everyday
