Daily life unfolds at the Chorsu Bazaar in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, where buying fresh bread is part of the constant rhythm of the bazaar. What immediately caught my attention was the young bread seller himself. He was remarkably tall, towering above his customers and standing out even among the crowds. In front of him lies the traditional round Uzbek non bread, while customers make their purchases and people carrying colourful bags move between the stalls. Behind them, the bazaar is buzzing with activity. Small carts weave their way through the crowd and the repeating arches of the market building provide a distinctive backdrop. For me, places like Chorsu are not only about what is being sold. They are places where small encounters, interesting faces and everyday moments reveal something of daily life in Tashkent.

Het dagelijkse leven speelt zich af op de Chorsu Bazaar in Tasjkent, Oezbekistan, waar het kopen van vers brood deel uitmaakt van het voortdurende ritme van de bazaar. Wat mij meteen opviel was de jonge broodverkoper zelf. Hij was opvallend lang en torende boven zijn klanten uit, waardoor hij zelfs tussen alle drukte onmiddellijk mijn aandacht trok. Voor hem ligt het traditionele ronde Oezbeekse non-brood, terwijl klanten hun aankopen doen en mensen met kleurrijke tassen tussen de kramen door lopen. Op de achtergrond bruist de bazaar van het leven. Kleine transportkarretjes zoeken hun weg door de menigte en de herhalende bogen van het marktgebouw vormen een karakteristieke achtergrond. Voor mij gaat een plek als Chorsu niet alleen om wat er wordt verkocht. Juist de kleine ontmoetingen, bijzondere gezichten en alledaagse momenten laten iets zien van het dagelijkse leven in Tasjkent.

366-The 2016 Edition-Daily Routine.
This is a photo I took out the window this morning of Stu and Shizandra returning home from their walk. He takes her to the park where they play ball every morning.
the thermos gives him away. not a tourist, not a visitor. just someone who has learned that the first train is the quiet one, that the red frame fits through the doors if you angle it right, that coffee from home tastes better than anything the station sells. he steps up without looking back. the city waits on both ends of the line.
Photos taken on a train between Ghent and Brussels capture reflections and blurred autumn scenery, blending reality and imagination. The stillness of the commuter and moving landscape felt unified. While the world sped by, inside the train, everything was calm, paused between departure and arrival.
A cold February morning in Ghent, under the Vlaamsekaai bridge along the kleine ring, where cyclists push through the chill on their daily commute. The early light, the long shadows, and the textured walls make for a perfect monochrome moment.

in the flux of passeig de gràcia, a metro car streaks by, a red canvas blurring lines between here and there. people anchor the frame, still against the streak of color, immersed in their thoughts, conversations, and devices. some stand in anticipation, others seek comfort in the benches—each a singular story, a private contemplation. the station is a crossroad of journeys, of pauses and departures, where the stillness of waiting contrasts with the swift passage of time. it's an urban tableau, a fleeting intersection of lives in motion, captured in the rhythm of barcelona's heartbeat.
A subliminal message perhaps on this Monday morning. I saw this as I was heading towards the entrance to my building. It speaks to me of my commitment to my 366 project. My commitment in getting back to the gym and healthy eating after being sick all week. My commitment to being the best I can be today.

So, my new job has me commuting one hour each way. Two hours every day is a bit poopy, but it's made better by the fact that Scott's new job is on the way. So, I drop him at the 45-minute mark and keep going. It's been surprisingly pleasant to commute together. This is the first job I have ever had to which I have commuted by car regularly. It's a bit of a weird feeling (employee parking lot etiquette, as one example of a learning experience).
So, on to this image. I shot this out of a moving car. Our car. Going about 80 clicks. I drive in the morning, and Scotty drives home at night. We pass a variant of this scene every day. I just want to take this opportunity to acknowledge aloud (so to speak) that I am really, really lucky to live where I now live. Things like this actually make my commute pretty special. Now, if only I could find time during the day for Flickr. ;)

Every day, I have the pleasure of looking into Ethel's beautiful face as I place her between my legs to give her her medication. I'm very lucky to have a cat that is so cooperative.
